mic preamps VS a Trimmer board preamp

mic preamps VS a Trimmer board preamp


most consoles and DAW have trimmers which are preamps but whats the difference between a Mic preamp VS a trimmer built in preamp inside the DAW or console?

The trimmer preamps DISTORT sooner why is that?

it seems that the trimmer preamps are boosting GAIN at 6db or 10db before it distorts

but a mic preamp can be like 12db or 18db GAIN before it "distorts"

Because they are cheap. :eek:

You are paying for the "Bells & Whistles" of the board, not the pre amps.

Most of the console preamps dont have gain they only have a level knob.

You need to get a Behringer Piano and hook it up to the Telly, your reception should improve very much.

If you still face simular problems got to the bathroom and bitchslap yourself untill your face is red like a tomato.
After this have a glass of water and lie down.

Rest for a year and check back in. ;)

It's generally caused by mounting them too high in the rack, depriving them of headroom. Of course you don't want to mount them too low and end up too close to the noise floor........
