Methods to reduce hiss?

I use cubase vst with a delta 66 card and an omni desktop audio station. My Ibanez has a fishman pick-up an it runs through a Focusrite Platinum Trakmaster pre-amp. I still seem to be catching quite a bit of hiss. What are the best gain set-ups for hiss reduction and is there any rack mount that I am missing or could use to reduce the hiss that is coming through my recordings? It jsut seems to me that I should not be getting the hiss I am. Any ideas would be great.

...generally, it would be best to examine each component in your sound-chain to establish the source of the hiss...then, see if you can either tweak the component or replace it...
