That is one kick ass song. I'm guessing you listenend to a lot of Maiden and Megadeth growing up, no?

Keep 'em coming.

Actually no, just loads of European Metal like Early In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork, Eucharist, Opeth ETC......obviously these guys had alot of the Maiden/Megadeth type influences and I guess it shows up through my stuff.
Thanks for taking the time to listen.

I think the floor tom is way louder than every other aspect of the drums or one of the toms... (maybe my speakers?) The kick is also not as deep and prevalent as I would like in a metal song. Then again I don't do metal. But I love this kind of guitar stuff. :P

Already the drummer is out of time.

Not really sure what you mean. I think the drum take is pretty solid. The tempo wanders a little bit but thats to be expected since we never rehearse together.

Thanks for listening.

Strave thanks for listening. I pulled that 1st tom down a little bit since the last post. The kick got a slight boost as well.

New mix has been posted, anyone else?

I said, already, I meant although (not a native english speaker ;))

You didn't tell us you never rehearsed, and the timing really isn't that great. I was indeed aiming at the tempo changes. If it doesn't bother you, no problem! But it is not very tight.

SuperCreep and Swatsds thanks for listening.

Halion thanks for the clarification. Not totally sure I agree with you. The tempo shifts i mentioned above I feel comfortable saying that they are fairly natural.

If its true that you never practice and still sound that good, what the hell!!!????

That was awsome dude. I am a huge euro metal fan, and that was killer.

im pissed that your not doing something for real with this. This music will always be good, not matter what trend comes around, cause you can never say it isnt great musicianship.

i want more man, what else you got !!!!!

I dig the guitar sound, nice and tight, cuts right through. Sounds pretty good a little to mechanical, but I love prog metal.

Do you have lyrics for this? Just wondering. There is definately room for them.

Completely true. Drummer and I have been good friends forever but we no longer live in the same city (about 5 hours apart right now). Once every 4-5 months we get together, take a day or so and figure out what we want to do drumwise for each song. Then basically just record the drums and my rhythm tracks right there on the spot. If i had to guess id say that we have played together 10 times at the most.
We have a lot of fun doing it but it hasn't moved to a level of seriousness yet. Definitely would love to do it all the time but the distance keeps that from happening.
Thanks for listening.

Chatbox Thanks for the listen. Alot of people say prog has a mechanical element to it. I think theres a good amount of contrast between the synchopated stuff and the more open stuff in the middle. I guess thats just me though. Thanks again

Hangdawg No lyrics but we have been looking for a singer for almost a year now. We've had 2-3 very promising guys sign on but the distance thing Ultimately got to them and it ended in frustration.
I definitely wrote the songs with vocals in mind. At times its a little crowded with the guitars but with the right vocals I would have no problem pulling back on some of them. Basically just a melodic blueprint to keep things interesting.
Thanks for the listen.

I like this a lot; the playing & writing is thoughful. Reminds me of Dave Mustaine (the guy is painfully underrated). I'd do away with the quiet bridge though; it's somewhat cliche sounding compared to the rest of the piece. You should release this stuff...

Check out Prong if you haven't already; I think you'd enjoy them.

This is a pretty old post but I was bored and doing a little digging around.
I gotta say that this stuff kicks some ass. I checked out all the tracks on the page you linked and they all impress the hell out of me. I know band comparisons may be lame but this stuff reminds me of Death + Opeth and those are 2 bands that I hold in the absolute highest regard. Wish more people were doing stuff like this these days. AWESOME!

P.S. >>
Wireneck, I was going to P.M. you instead of bringing this post back to life but your mailbox was full...oh well :D

Metalhead thanks for the compliments. Sorry you had to bring this one back from the grave. Ill have to go clean out my PM box, i was unaware that it was full. Thanks for the heads up.

I really dug this...thinking there must be something wrong with my hearing after hearing the comments about the timing and the drums...To me they sounded really tight and good.Very nice guitar playing I like your style...definetly hear some hints of Maiden in there with the harmonies...was bummed when it faded out cause I was getting into it!!Great job!!!!

.thinking there must be something wrong with my hearing after hearing the comments about the timing and the drums..

Im not going to say its perfect because we didn't use a click and we honestly never practice together. I will say that sometimes people will mistake accents/timings that sound "weird" to them for being mess ups or out of time. Its all in what you are used to hearing I suppose.
Thanks for the listen even if this thread is old as hell haha.

monsters must be wanderin the georgia north woods now? :)

It sounds quite pristene to me except, I just couldn`t hear the xylophone that well. The rest of it is out there....

p.s. that hat seems a bit dry in the stop time, in relation to the rest of the kit. Interesting, but kinda pokin out. 'just me listening on my junk here.
