D6: Oh yeah! I forgot that I had left for Life and Anthrax and came back for Misfits that night..... d'oh! ( I had pals who worked there, got in free, could leave and come back at will....). Yeah, the Morbid show had all the fans on stage... Dave's hair blew around like he was at a photo shoot or something. It was kinda funny. I also forgot who opened that night.... oh yeah, it was Grip Inc., Dave Lombardo's first band after leaving almightly Slayer. I caught two songs, thought the band's songs sucked ass, thought the singer was trying too hard to be a heavy metal Scott Weiland or something, but did catch an almightly Lombardo drum solo... which got the band their biggest response!! :) Lombardo still had the evil kit with the inverted cross on it and all that silliness. ;)

DId that Morbid show kill your ears too? I had tried to make their previous show the year before but my clutch cable snapped on the way there.... damn cheap Hyundai POS's.... :)

I suppose you had caught Carcass at Babyhead in 94 on the "Heartwork" tour?? The band was pissed at everybody cuz people (me included!) wanted them to play SOME stuff at least from "Symphonies" but they'd only go as far back as "Necroticism...", AND since Pitch Shifter *totally* kicked Carcass's ass that night show-wise (prob'ly the best show I ever saw was the Pitch Shifter set, and I've never been much into them, and Carcass is one of my all-time metal faves!)

I'll reply to your email once I get around to logging in over there ;)
the par-tay sounds good....

peace

I didnt catch the carcass show at babyhead, my ears were ok, i think, that was yrs ago. I whent to club hell last night, i had a babyhead flash back, and that gay pole in the middle of the stage.(lol)

Soilwork Sux

I just have to support one of my favorite bands. Soilworks music is awesome, and i don't think the vocals suck at all. The harsh vocals are about like In Flames, and the singin is equally good. Pitch Shifter put on a better show than Carcass...that hard to fathom. The drummer from Devourment is faster than Nick from Dimmu, or Pete Sandoval. Shit i have to go and buy an album. If you guys are into fast drummers, i will post an mp3 of my bands drummer. He is wicked fast, and really good with his hands, which i think alot of Death Metal drummers lack. there feet are insane and hands are fast but kinda sloppy. Any really heavy MP3's out there on this board. Later All

I record heavy bands exclusively and alot

All of the reccomendations you have been given here sound good but I would just point out that tuning is a factor. You mentioned a B tuning. Dimebag tunes higher and that would make a real difference. I asked him about his guitar tracks once and he mentioned that they will usually track from 4-8 depending on how into it he is. and typically two mikes at a time

Also what about your pickups? Are they stock or something good like output active emgs or a passive intruder? Are you even getting the tone you want right now on your recording with your live rig? New strings? You may also try tracking in a different room if you have that available

they are friends of mine. they have a new drummer now. a guy from a band called sect of execration

Devin Townsend

The new soilwork cd was produced by devin townsed, and totally has his signature sound (very eminent in the massively layered vocals, and the atmospheric synth tones) id kill to record with that guy. All of my band's new songs have a soilwork/inflames vibe, very melodic, tons of guitar harmonies, and catchy, yet technical leads, we used to be heavy, and melodic based around atmospheric power chords, and alot of clean channel parts as well, for some reason i find playing more technical metal more satisfying than what i had been doing prior. what are all of you into?

Devin Townsend is a goofy looking guy, but he sure lays down some killer vox.
