Mbox & headphone static

I just bought a pair of Sony MDR-CD 900ST headphones and plugged them directly into my Mbox (connected to a G5 tower). I'm getting a slight static or buzz that others have complained about (whether Pro Tools is running or not). Has there been a definitive solution to this noise problem?

I don't get ANY noise from my Edirol monitors, even when I listen with headphones plugged into them. So, will it make any difference using the headphones plugged directly into the monitors themselves?

I'm getting a pair of Yamaha MSP5As monitors next week--there are no volume control knobs, so would I have to use a master fader track to control volume?

Did you try both headphone outs, the one on the front and the one on the back? It could be you have a bum jack.
