I searched this board to find some info on this topic, too, but I only found your question
) So I did a quick research with google and found this interview:

He doesn't really tell the secrets of his drum and guitar sound (your new aesthetics kicks ass) there, but at least you can find some info on what mics he uses...
If anyone knows more I'd be happy if he or she lets us know)
