Has anyone made their own mic mounts for toms, etc?
I am curious if there's a simple solution for drum mounts, to make some sort of clip to mount microphones onto drums, without damaging the drum, or the mic. I am broke at the moment after ordering a shitload of equipment, and mounts are pretty expensive.
Any solutions would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

sometimes at radio shack you can find a mic clip with a "male" end instead of the usual female. What I have done is to take one of those, and one of those v-shaped mic clips with the spring and screw them together. The V-shaped mic cliped becomes what you clip onto the drum hardware, and the regular mic clip with the male end is, well, the mic clip. For more grip drill a hole throgh both sides of the V clip, near the heel of the thing and put a threaded bolt through it and a wing nut or something.
It's not all that great cuz, they aren't all that adjustable, and can lock you into certain mic positions. but for close micing toms they work ok.

I don't understand??? If you clip a mic to the shell of a drum wont you get alot of low frequency rumble from vibration when the mic shakes from the hit???
Tell me what I'm missing
