MackieHR824 HELP!!!!

I have a set of Mackie HR824s, and they are connected my Audiophile soundcard. For some reason, my left speaker is way louder than my right, and I didnt notice this until I used my Audiophile software mixer to mute each track separately. Both monitors have the same settings in the back of them so I dont know whats up. They both are using the same kind of cables connecting to the soundcard. My right monitor has direct RCA connection and so does my left monitor. Any suggestions? Thanks guys.
 
does your soundcard have 2 separate RCA outs? or One split sharing a ground?

I would suspect that one monitor thinks it is seeing a +4 level and one -10 ( assuming you are sure you have the volume knobs on the back of the speaker set the same [ dont let the center detent fool you!!!] )

It has two separate RCA outs. The volume on the speakers back are set at 0db for both. The software mixer level thinggies are set at to "Stereo Link", so when I raise the volume, the other one gets raised at the same volume.
 
When you reverse the cables is the right then louder than the left ? If so it's the computer, if not it's the speaker or it's input.

Thanks guys for your info, I just found out why one was louder. I was spliting the left output with my headphones. Now this brings about another question. My left and right RCA jacks are used for my speakers, how in da heck do i make room for my headphones? I have another soundcard on board, but I have it disabled to prevent hardware conflicts. Anyone?

get yourself a small Behringer mixer, you'll have a much more flexible system.
 
I went the Behringer route... I use the mixer as a volume pot and to route a few stereo signals to the speakers and phones.

Samson makes this C-control thing I noticed though... costs €150 over here (http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1650&brandID=2) but I'm a bit hesistant...

I *know* the Behringer affects the sound coming out of my PC, but won't the Samson do this as well...? Seems like a cool solution though, a master section of a big console.

Easily the best way to go. It is always best to have proper control over gain levels after the comp.

Twisting a knob is much quicker and more precise than trying to use the mouse in a hurry( so the wife says?).
