Broken XLR Cable - Potential for Damage?

I was using my condenser mic when I realised something was wrong as it was making all kinds of noise. On closer inspection, I realised the XLR cable I was using had a broken connection on one of the signal wires (terrible workmanship I have to say... Who on earth soldered this thing?! ). Is there a danger of any lasting damage being caused from this oversight (either to my mic or my pre)? I'm thinking particularly about the phantom power aspect. Luckily I was able to spot there was something amiss quite early and so hopefully not! Think I've used the same cable with my active DI too...

Cut it shorter to remove the damaged area and resolder it……..or…… throw it away.

Never, ever had phantom power damage any mic - condensers, dynamics or ribbons. Mics are designed to cope with this sort of thing, All those tales of doom and gloom have no real substance.

I have never had damage occur - but I’ve been very cognizant of my RCA Ribbon mics never getting voltage - modern Ribbons I’ve never had a problem.

Phantom power is injected into the wire by current limiting resistors and are rated to take a direct short without effecting the circuitry.
