I've decided to buy an ADAT. Although I'm torn between the LX20 and the 16-bit ADAT XT. They're going for around the same price on EBAY. Other than the obvious 20 bit resolution of the LX20, are there any other positives\negatives of the LX20 to the 16-bit XT. I guess what I'm asking is, if they were being offered at the same price and head hour amount, what would you choose and why?

uh...the xt is also 20bit with better ad converters and transports plus the xt has 1/4 inputs and outputs vs the lx20's rca's. Are you sure it wasn't a black-face 16bit adat you seen? I just bought a LX20 a few months ago and I'm not very happy with it. If it is an XT you seen I would go for it instead of the LX20. How many head hours are you talking about?

Actually David, that's wrong - it threw me too when I first read it....

Before the XT20 there was the 16-bit XT, which, if I'm not mistaken, was the 2nd generation of ADAT. It was advertised as having an improved transport and reliability - but the converters were the same as a Blackface.

Between the two, I think you're better off with the LX20 (if only for the higher resolution and it is a 3rd generation product), unless you need to run at +4dbu... but even better would be to round up a bit more dough and go for the XT20....
