Hey everyone glad to be here, first time. my problem is I start out with about 900 to 1,000 minutes of recording time.. About half way through, I'm down to about 200 .. O.K. but this is on a 5 minute song. I use 4 lines for drums and i go from 700 minutes to 200 in no time I'm out of recording time ( yes I delete unused ) .. And I can't mix that takes more recording time.. Yes i use all 24 lines ( not at once of of course ) But even if i had a ten minute song that would still be only 240 minutes of recorded time.. Where is all the time going ? I have the tascam 2488 Neo by the way The thing is also lets say i use 4 lines it automatically goes from 700 to 200 for some reason sure if you knock off the buttons it gives you back the time. problem is that when you start recording at 200 ( because that's all it's giving you ) your out in no time.. This is a problem I am praying somebody can help me with. no menu or video mentions this.. of course right.

thanks if i'm not clear please ask .. Need help

I'd recommend to move some old tunes off the recorder to free up more disk space.

Hmm, well it comes down to disk space. I have the 2488 MKI and I ran out of space on my original 40GB and so I put in a bigger one and ran out of space there too.
Short of changing the hard drive, maybe try to off load all your tunes and reformat the drive.
I read somewhere once how you can calculate the space that a recording will take. The bit depth you choose has a lot to do with that. You know 16 bit or 24 bit.
I think a quick google search will find the particulars.
