You should really have a look at Line Audio's product-line.. It's a Swedish company. I just bought 2 of their mics (2x CM2 ~90$ each, 1x SM3 ~260$), and I'm VERY impressed by the build-quality.. Damn, the shockmount that came with the SM3 is a baby in itself...

They're availible in Canada at Axe Music..
Check them out at www.lineaudio.com and www.lineaudio.se

For the money, you can't go wrong with these mics.

The Swedes have always made some very good microphones & Milab is a fine example of one such firm who makes great sounding products. How do they really sound, Meshuggah? I am sure that Henrik will want to check these out [if he hasn't already]?:D

Yeah, I also got a pair of the small diaphragm CM2, which I find to be a pretty decent drum overhead mic. For the price, it's outstanding.

I'm looking forward to trying out some of their other mics, and not least their very inexpensive mic preamps.

Cheers
/Henrik

Hi Henrik [& Mesh],

What I really want to know is how the Line Audio CM2 & SM3 microphones sound for acoustic & electric guitar applications? We've got the drums pretty well handled. We're always looking for cool mics for the 6 string uses... Maybe Meshuggah will chime in with some insight into these mics also? I'm always interested in hearing people's first impressions of a product.:)

So far I've only tried a little short recording of accoustic with these mics. The SM3 seemed very neutral with good detail, and the CM2 is brighter with less low end. The highs of the CM2 is what made me buy it. Perfect compliment to my Oktavas.

The SM3 -> dbx576 was a winning team on vocals...

Well, given what I know about Swedish engineering and attention to detail, I gotta check these babies out soon--thank you Meshuggah & Henrik!:)

Mesh,
it sure sounds like we should do a good ol' shootout before long.

I also have the CM2 and I'm quite pleased with it.

About Swedish engineering quality. You sort of have to keep on your toes when you live next door to Denmark. You know B&K, DPA... Dynaudio... :)

...and Finland. Genelec, need I say more. And Norway...no, wait a minute...

:D

They look bullit proof (important when you live next to East St. Louis:D ). I'd love to get my hands on one to road test it in the studio.
