One day Bruce, I will have a similar setup to yours. It's really amazing..... **Dreams**..... Oh and in the meantime a couple of pics showing why not having a dedicated recording space sucks!

This one is when I stayed at my parents place over Christmas. Had to put up with three younger brothers and a playstation

Recorded in my living room. Didn't give my housemate an option, she wasn't real impressed.

Notice how there's no monitors yet :( . I'm mixing as well as I can using headphones and regular stereo speakers, then burning onto rewritable CD and checking the mix in my car. Repeat Ad Infinite or until I get a mix I'm remotely happy with.

**Still dreaming**

Your studio is just amazing, Bruce!

Did you hire an interior designer or did you come up with the color scheme & design all by yourself?
Thanks! Actually, I did the colour scheme but John Sayers designed the whole studio (layout and acoustics.)

Looks great, Dave!!

BlueBear,

Nice setup!

I had a question about your rates. What are you doing for DVD transfer? $50 seems a bit low from my experience (I do video work on the side as well) for the amount of work involved. Are you just using the Panasonic combo VHS/DVD deck to do the transfer or are you using a computer?

Yeah - they are low -- but they're what the market will bear around here.... I slot those projects in during off-session times, because, yes - they are time-intensive (and I'm not nearly recouping the time invovled in producing them at that rate!) All video work is done on the DAW - that DVD/VHS combo unit is strictly for monitoring/playback (it doesn't do DVD-recording)...

I Just upgraded some parts of my studio (mainly an Allen & Heath Mixwizard, and RME lightpipe card and an AD/DA converter). The little studio is mainly used for dance music production, so there are no major "recording sessions" going on here anyway:

Why Does Everyone Have A Clean Set Up And Mine Look Like Garbage!?

Nice new console Bruce.

Might as well put mine in here also. I had another thread with them as well. Hope no one minds

Geez. That looks nice. If only I could afford some LCD monitors. If I can at least get another 17" CRT, I'll be happy.

How's that Tascam working out for you? Or do you only use it as a control surface?

Oops - sorry for the late reply.

Thanks geet. The Tascam has been working great for me. I've had it for over a year now and use it for tracking and as a controller.

That's a Sayer's design right?
Where can I contact this Sayer guy? I really need someone professional to plan/draw my upcoming studio. Tnx for any help on finding him or some else to help me out.

Isnt having your desk in a corner a bad thing? That's what I keep hearing

I currently have a corner desk. I'm rebuilding it this summer as having it in a corner doesnt make room for a second artist to sit by my side and participate (we record a lot voice at the desk when we do songwriting).
Gonna post a pic when I'm done with it this summer.
I'm also currently drawing my dream - a studio on the top floor of the house where I live. Hard to tell when that can be realized. Prolly not until 2006.

You are right, having a desk in the corner is a bad thing, first soundwise (which I've attacked by putting wall panels up), and also because there's not a lot of space around (you can't expand and nobody can sit next to you).

My setup is not a permanent solution anyway, and since I live in a very confined space, it was the only solution. I look forward to building a BIG desk in a decidated studio soon. :D

Well, regardless, it's a beautiful, clean set up. I like it. I need myself some heads like yours. Where can I order some?

Do you have any samples of anything you have recorded?
