Constant problems. It's running on Yamaha new mLan system (one firewire cable does it all, midi audio, interface) and it works, but the faders dont always respond to whats onscreen whcihc they're meant to, there are random clicks and pops in my mixes sometimes and the screen a faders dont always updates themselves when I'm telling them to. I had the exact same issues with the Tascam fw-1884 and it turned out to be the firewire card.

With the Tascam unit, Texas Instruments chipsets are recommended for FW cards. Turns out I had a NEC chipset. So I bought an Adaptec 4300 card and everything now works flawlessly.

Iy might work the same for the 01x. It's worth a try anyways. Just right click on My Computer and check under hardware devices what chipset your FW card is using.
 
I have an NEC. Crap! that could be the answer to the issues I've been having. If this works im going to create 100 new accounts and give you rep a million times over.
.....ok so maybe not 100 but you get the general idea.
 
PCs are so lame. This is like the problem with my old PC where a combination of the VIA chipset, Nvidia graphics and a sound card that doesn't impose its own PCI latency rating conspired to make the machine unusable for recording!

Doesn't solve any hardware incompatiblity issues......hmm..but don't worry about it. :rolleyes:

INTRESTING FACT OF THE DAY: Next year Linux is expected to have a bigger market share of Buissness and Home computers than Apple. :eek:

A free open source OS is about to become bigger than the company that built the first widley avaliably desktop computer...the infamous and rather cleverly named 'APPLE 1'.

All I can say is how cool is that? Not that i'm against apple. I'd love an apple.

GO LINUX! :D
 
Well ... Linux wouldn't have solved my problems but it would certainly help me not have to pay big money for crap OS software every year or so.

Anyway ... better let this thread get back to business ...

Mate I just want to thank you for my first laugh of the day (at midnight at the end of the day). That picture just had me spitting my bedtime snacks all over the desk! Beautiful! :p

Oh, and your birthday was two days before mine - hope it was good! My sister was sixteen last month ... maybe you and her should hook up, she's a hottie! :p
