I've never posted a pic of my studio before, because it doesn't live up to the grand vision in my head.

Are you frickin' kidding me? That's an awesome space. You've got a *killer* guitar and amp collection too...without great source instruments and amps like that, it doesn't matter what else you have. Show it with pride man...though you should probably call yourself "Les Paul" because I see three of those and only see one white strat...:D

Hi whitestrat.

your studio sucks. get some decent guitars and stop scaring that backpacker with that big mean drumset.

at least get a comfortable chair to mix in! :p

Y'know...my desk (temporary though it is) is counter height. I like it that way because since I'm usually recording myself, I can stand up and still get to everything without hunching over. When I build the "real deal" it too, will be counter height.

All that is to say that it's real easy to find crappy wooden stools to fit the bill--but a nice comfy chair that's tall enough for the counter height desk? Haven't found it yet.

And the backpacker says, "Thanks for the concern. At least somebody cares. This ass won't even change my strings!"

Wow whitey, your dungeon is kind of like my dungeon's evil bigger twin! We have this parallel universe thing going on - I built my own house, ran out of funds for the basement, have all my shit in a concrete box, have my desk at counter height, use tall bar stools, and even built my desk with those metal simpson strongtie corner pieces! I also just upgraded my monitors to a pair of widescreen lcd's.. The only thing I have on you is paint and 1/2 a ceiling.. You have a TON more gear than me tho, if I evolve to that in 5 or 10 years I'll be a happy camper!

My humble abode:

Damn--that's about bizarre. We even both have the ductwork and pipes running over our setups just to the left.

My basement has 9' ceilings and I was careful to run every duct, pipe and wire all on one side the main wall. The thinking was that when I finish the basement, the "finished" part will have nice tall 9' everywhere.

The downside is lower ceilings in the studio (the other part of the basement with the HVAC etc is the workshop). Now I'm kinda wishing I had done it the other way--taller ceiling in the studio, screw the rest of the basement. I'll be 90 by the time it's finished anyway...

My studio...

go to my page and click on my album...pretty cool studio.. where else are you gonna see a Tascm m-35 mixer today?

oopps..sorry..got to my "pic albums"

sorry, if you want to see my studio, go to my "albums" not my "page" that will send you to a soundclick sight i deleted.

I've never posted a pic of my studio before, because it doesn't live up to the grand vision in my head. It's probably gonna be a while before it does so here goes. We built our own house, but ran out of money and time before the basement was finished. We did get as far as putting up rough walls where the rooms will be in the basement, so my studio is in it's real home (with everything in a workable place)--it's just an unfinished home.

I've posted it externally, because it's a big wide fisheye-panoramic shot all stitched together into one, and I didn't want to hose this page. It'll probably load at a reduced size. Just click on the pic to magnify it and scroll left and right to see my dungeon. The pic doesn't show the shelves on the wall behind the desk--that's where I keep all the mics.

Room treatment? I've got tons of 703 panels (from GIK) that I move around to make treated spaces (a psuedo-vocal booth, a surround for the drums, etc.) When the room is finished, they'll go up on the walls.

Oh yeah, the pic is about a month old--and in the past month I lost and replaced my beloved computer with a new more beloved computer, so just imagine a pair of 24" flat screens on the desk now. :)

Awesome pic of an awesome studio! Very cool.:D

Hi,

I recently finished a single for a client and while we were tracking they took lots of video, they just released this video clip on youtube made from the footage.

One quick scene of the drums was not from the studio but a rehearsal room (the one with all the deadener on the wall, I would never have a drum area like that) but all the rest was in the studio.

You also get to see my thumb and the back of my head (oh well I suppose I am not in the band). Keep an eye out for the old Atari Computer running the click track on Creator, I forgot we used it until I watched the clip.

Cheers

Alan.

all ur studios are ugly like u dont have eyes to see what ugly environment u work in, people invest in paint and color those walls, make DIY bass traps instead of cheap ass ugly foam, etc.. goddamn

Nice work Alan!!!

That band reminds me of one I recorded about 10 years ago. I will have to put up a remix of one of their songs soon. Thanks for sharing it with us.

It is not how they look but how they sound that is important.
I will be looking forward to hearing your post files soon.

There are some sweet studios here! I just read through the whole thing from beginning to end and will post pics soon!

This is my decidedly unimpressive analog based "studio."
:D:D I like it!! You made my day! Long live analog.:D Hey, for us home studio guys that like analog you've made the grade:D Don't get discouraged by the other comments about your stuido. Once you understand about analog...well, you've already joined the REAL group. If you don't believe me...read this. You won't be the same ever again.:)

Hey Alan...where do I recogninze your "witzendoz" handle from...is it from the TASCAM Fourms?
I know we've exchanged posts somewhere before.....

Nice studio digs...I see you have the 3700...I have a 3500.
Some guy was parting out his 3500...so I just recently picked up a spare PS and a bunch of channel modules, plus some faders, spare main meter bridge...etc...so I plan on keeping my 3500 in service for awhile yet!
I have to say (knock on wood)...I have not had a single issue with my board in the now almost 20 years I've had it!
