Good tune. Intriguing lyrics. Sounds like it could be a scene from a rock opera based upon the song Castle Falls I posted a ways back...courtly intrigue, etc...anyway...I digress. I like all the performances and the vibe of the song. I think the drums are flat and lifeless though, with too much smack and not enough beef. The guitar is very fizzy, needs bark, less bite - over-compressed maybe (lol, weren't we just talking about compression in my other post)? :)
I LOVE the Maiden-esque harmonized lead though....mmm..mmm...goood n tasty!!:D Vox were good, but a little dry and up front for my taste in a 'dark' vibe song such as this. I think you could add some mystery with a little delay and a touch more of verb. I know, I know, I love da 'verb, but I don't have a problem, I can quit anytime.....:o

Rock on! :D

Thanks for the feedback

With this particular song the drums were really smacky sounding...did what i could with them however the recording of the drums themselves are smacky in sound.

Also all the toms were on one stem so I couldnt pan them properly...I just had to find the right spot where it didnt sound bad.

It all sounds very thin to me.
The drums lack depth, sounds as if the drummer's hitting on sticks. The voice has an incredible amount of treble. But I suppose if you weren't responsible for the tracking all this isn't your fault. Overall the whole mix lacks the lows to fill it up.

There's times where the singer sound a lot like Alice Cooper. I would love to hear him sing Billion Dollar Babies! :)

My original mix had much more low end in it because I love bass and low end and the bass filled out the bottom end of the mix however the guys I did the mix for wanted me to remove some of the bottom end so I did.

I agree with the vocal comment and the amount of treble...I will have to watch that in the future when mixing.

I agree with the drum comment as well.

Like you said I didnt track the instruments so its tough to get everything sounding they way you want...mixing stems from 4 different people and from 4 different eviroments is a challenge as well.

The vocal blunder is my fault though...after mastering song the vocals had to much sibilance.

I take the blame for the bad parts of the entire mix however there are limitations to how good a mix can be when dealing with homerecordings sometimes.

Overall its not a bad mix however it could sound fuller with the addition of more bottom end.

Steve is a good singer...Im surprised how good he is sometimes.

He has that old school sound to his voice...talented guy.
