Rod, how about that firewire cable?
Rod, that was cheap shot and I appologize. you sold me a MOTU 2408 mkII and that's just what you sent me sir. Too much scotch in the middle of the day but that's a poor excuse. You're a square shooter my friend.

the solution is simple, from both explainations, i gather that the power supply got wet during shipping.. is there any evidence of this with the packaging? if this is true, the seller needs to take care of this as he is the only one that can file the insurance claim. however, it will take both to get this thing resolved...

now back to the pregnant thread... ;)

Look, I ain't skewering anybody, but as a seller of mics, if a customer doesn't like a mic, broke a mic, claims a mic was damaged in shipping, I lose, every time. Because I am aware of that outcome, I make it my policy.

Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin if you want to have a reputation as a trusted seller.

If you aren't making any guarantee use a disclaimer in your post. No refunds, no returns, Sold "as is", all sales final.

That way potential buyers can decide whether they want to take the risk.

Just my $.02

o.k. first things first, i never once said it was "as new" i did say in a private message that it was in excellent condition. and when i sold it, it worked as such for me. i do all my Home recording surfing from work and Rod emailed me over the weekend when i was not at work. his second PM was not very nice. i still have a problem with the mic being opened before he PM me, how many companies take back items after the purchaser said they took them apart? but, we have to resolve this. i will look into the shipping insurance route. what kind of info do i need to start the process? and second if it is the power supply that has been damaged, can rod get a repair estimate done in case the insurance claim doesnt work?

Bigw....

Not everyone is comfortable opening up gear no matter what the reason so implying that he should have opened it up isn't really a fair call.

Zook....

A lot of people enjoy opening gear just to get a feel for what's inside and even more so if they think there may be a problem.

Sounds like you both are willing at this point to go ahead with the claim process. I hope you both can get this settled and behind you.

These kind of things are very troubling. I bought a disc from a individual on ebay that was described as in mint condition. When I got it it had many fine scratches and scuff marks on the playing surface - anything but mint condition. Left negative feedback which I now regret. That lead to an angry reply with a lot of contradictions on the seller's part. I voluntarily started the retraction process cause I felt that was the only way to satisfy the "victim" who was the seller in this case. I've learned my lesson - I don't buy from anyone without a 100% positive rating. Saves a lot of heartache on both sides.

Unfortunately here there is no way of knowing. Trust is paramount. Hopefully Zook and Bigw will get this sorted out to their mutual satisfaction.

no companies that i know of would accept that return.

rod or you is going to HAVE TO get a repair estimate done just to get a claim through. they need to know how much it will cost to fix before they'll pay for it.
