D1600's Found In Stock!!!

I ordered the d1600 from a local dealer here in WA state (local business and all that) and he wasn't even aware that they had shipped yet. He was curious when you ordered yours and from where. He said he should have mine around the end of this month.

Pete

I ordered mine from Synthony Music out of Phoenix, AZ.

Well, Jeez Louise, whaddaya know- I FINALLY got the call from Sweetwater today- I should have my D1600 by the weekend!

I ordered it without the cd burner, so I'll be looking to buy the TEAC 54e soon. I'll check out pricewatch as suggested.

Never did hear back from Dragon about us having our own forum- I'll try again.

Man, I do hope we get our own forum, because I just spent some time on Yahoo (the Korg user group), and navigating that sight simply sucks.

I'll keep you all informed as to our own forum. Meanwhile, continue posting your questions here. See y'all!

And you just took it out of the box and plugged it into the computer? Is it that easy?

D1600 cd burner issue

I've been banging this question around at the Yahoo site, and hopefully someone here might know the answer. The cd burner that Korg ships with the D1600 is in fact a TEAC CD-W 54e. It's a 4x4x32 speed. Apparently, the Korg website lists compatable burners for the D1600, including some faster than 4x4x32.

Some feel the D1600's operating system maxes out at 4x, so although a faster (and more expensive) burner will work, it won't burn at a rate faster than 4x, so it's money down the drain.

What are your thoughts, anyone???

Another question for DariusK

Darius- when you ordered your TEAC burner, did you get just the drive, or the kit (with software, media & cables). edot has the drive alone for $60, the kit for $79. Also, do you need to upload software from the burner to the 1600?

Also, how hard was the burner to install?

Thanks for taking the time... Keith

FINALLY!!!!!

Got it!! This thing looks sweet!!! Now for the 26 chapter *groan* owner's manual....

Keith L,

I got the baredrive option. It was easy to install. Quick release handle, four screws and three connections. takes about five minutes.

YES! love the idea

Also i have a question. I want to sync my d1600 with cubase and reason. The problem is i want to sync my SYnt (EX5) too.
So what i have done is let the synth have: MIDI A in and out to the PC, the d1600 is going to MIDI B (on the synth).
Everything works great only: the Ex5 has a built in sequencer which only runs one measure if nothing is recorded in it. SO when i press play on the d1600 the PC sequencer runs just one measure (as the ex5 tells it to stop after one meas.) Annoying.
Any ideas? I know that you guys might not have the EX5 and so on but i thought that most synths should behave about the same.

Thanx

YO, MR. DARIUS K !!!

Thanks for all your help! The cd burner arrived from edot yesterday, a day after I bought it! I installed it, and I THINK it's working ok.

The manual says to reboot the D1600 after installing the burner to see if the unit recognizes the burner. No window popped up (the way it did when I installed the hard drive), but I've been able to listen to cd's through the unit, as well as record from cd to channels one and two on the D1600. Can I assume that the installation went ok? (I haven't yet tried to burn a cd). Waddaya think???

YES YES YES!!!!! A Korg forum please!

I just received my Korg D1600 2 weeks ago....had to wait for a friend's shipment out here in Saudi Arabia....ordered it back in May from Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center in Maryland outside Wash. DC........better price than what I had seen online. Had the CDRW shipped with it as well as cables and such along with a Shure KSM44 mic. Am I having fun???? YES!!!!

But...being a complete novice in this recording arena I do find some of the manual a bit too technical. Would sure love a step-by-step procedure for the complete idiot manual!

Am having a difficult time understanding all about inserting effects.

Anyway...will keep watching this space.........

What part don`t you understand?

Hey Kwong,Isalamalakum. How did you hear of Chuck Levens?Let me give you some advice order from Guitar center or Mars,Chuck levens will rip you off with their overpriced gear.If you need an adress for either of those stores let me know.I went to Chuck Levens to buy a FD-4 and at the time people were connecting these syquest 250 ez flyers for storage and usually their about 80 bucks well chuck levens were selling them for 300 bucks. After that and their shitty service I decided never to go back and recomend the same for anyone. If you don`t understand some terms used in your manuel, just ask.....Do you have a mixing board? If you don`t and planning to get one I recomend Mackie. For one thing their pre-amp`s for mic input is excellent also they have a glossary in the back of the manuel, which helps alot .When I first started it really helped me alot, there are some manuels that won`t explain anything,I guess they figure if you have their equipment then you should already know certain things.Anyway hope your enjoying your recorder.Peace be apun you!

HAHA! Wah Alekum Ah Salaam! And before we get carried away here...no...I am not a Saudi and no I am not a mulim....

I am surprised to hear you say the negative things about Chuck Levins. I have always had very good service and luck with them and have never seen their price beat when I was buying something. Their D1600 was less than Mar's price...not a ton but nenetheless less.

Regardles....I am very pleased.....and this machine is a home studio actually.....includes mixer et al........

Look for my bonehead questions in this space........
