Kompakt: use as DXi or VSTi ?

I just bought Kompakt. I can't wait to give it a try. However, I am wondering if it works better as a DXi or a VSTi, or if it makes any difference. I have heard that some software instruments, although also available as DXis, were basically written as VSTis and function better that way, so it is better to use them with the VST-DX wrapper than install them as DXis. This seems counter-intuitive to me, but I was wondering what others think.

I'd say use the DXi version if you have it...
I've heard the VST Wrapper can cause issues with some VSTi/VSTfx.

It probably doesn't make much difference with Kompakt as people have used both successfully. Initially, some folks reported the VST version was more stable, but that was in the past. Depending on the plug in, some may be more stable as DXi or VSTi. With a plug like Kompakt, it was not written as a VST or DX, it is a stand-alone and is essentially "wrapped" by NI to be seen as either a VSTi or DXi. Many plugs that are available in both formats are written that way.

wtf is Kompakt? do you mean kontakt? I use kontakt as a dxi works great

Aside from the fact that it is cheaper than Kontakt (with less sound manipulation abilitiy), a modified version of Kompakt has been used quite a bit in the "virtual instrument" end of things. Also, while many people think (opinion alert--just passing on what others have frequently said) that the sample library that comes with Kontakt is really quit poor, the sample library that comes with Kompakt is rated as fairly good. I guess some people bought Kompakt just for the library, as you can play it in Kontakt.
