Hello to all fellow members,
I am new to this world of recording and technology and was wondering if someone could help me with my simple requirement.
I have karaoke files (MP3/WAV files with background track minus the vocals) on my Mac. All I need to do is following...
- Sing along with the background track
- Hear the background track and my vocals together using a headphone whilst I am singing
- Record the backtrack and my vocals combined in to my Mac so that they form one audio file
- Edit the recorded track using some software on my Mac - Garageband?
So here are the questions...
- What more equipment do I need to buy?
- If it is mixer / audio Interface, which one is best suited for my needs? Some explanation around difference in these two would help.
- What should I look for in Mixer / Audio Interface?
- Anything specific that I should keep in mind while buying these devices i.e. Number of input/outputs?
- Assuming I have all the equipment you suggest, how do I go about achieving the above requirements? i.e. which software do I need?
Look forward to hear from you soon
Regards,
Jay
