Tascam 244 control/heads/transprt problem. heads stuck in play mode.
Hi i am having a similair problem. the heads are stuck in play mode. and wont move . it can be moved manualy from underneath but again the force of the mechanism re-engages to play mode and is stuck. is this belts?
i ask because underneath the ctrl cog there is a lever. if you push one way it makes the transport go crazy and heads are popping up and down on a consant loop! pull lever the other way and it stops. but here lies a problem. i think a little "leg" section has broken off this lever so it willo brake the system in a particular place on the gog to disengage the heads. the ctrl buttons also dont work as far as stopping this problem. ie if i press stop while the heads are popping in/out nothing happens. but these buttons do seem to work as far as one a tape is in it becomes possible to start/stop the capstan. although its eating tape.
i understand its in need of new belts but the other issue with this broken lever section is that a big fix? can anyone please help its very frustrating!
