Just got my C3...

btw harvey,
i did mention your name a couple of times in this thread but i hope that i didn't drag you into it by doing so. i only brought it up because i, as well as a lot of other people here, truly respect your opinions.

Well said, Harvey!! I agree for instance, ecm8000's mars music no longer carries them so if I want a pair I'm looking at 8th street or musicians friend and of course there not within drivings distance. So, there's that dilema.I believe you did a great justice to this community for recommending what you felt to be a great bargain and I respect that and just to let you know 8th street and the others owe you some freebies for the added revenue.lol But of course IMHO your expertise is genuine and from reading several of your posts I have come to believe your intentions are more than credible.Until now, I never realized you were 65 and if I live to be 65 I hope there's a bbs. for me to share all my years of recording and experiences with people who really want facts.:D :D

I agree Harvey...who do you trust? But look at this way...this site beats the heck out whatever there was a generation, or two ago! At least this is an outlet to explore what's out there...30 years ago, one had to rely on the advice of someone close by, or an article in a mag like Downbeat, or what have you. I know, i been there. How many music stores in your home town back then carry something other than a Shure mic?

Rough crowd, here is my two cents...

This place is a strange mix of engineers, writers, performers, hobbyists. Don't always assume that a newbie is inexperienced, just new to the site. I have noticed that musicians tend to be more emotional over their new equipment and engineers tend to be more analytical; always a volatile dynamic mixing these two.

Expanding your artistic nature on a limited budget is frustrating and so I have come to rely on a lot of people’s opinions here. I think most of us can tell the BS from the news. This said I bought the C1 based on opinions here, not Alan's, and am pleased with what it is. Many people have purchased C1..Cn but I have heard few complaints.

If you don't agree with other people then question their comments but don't paste your paranoia on others. This anti-SP mentality is detrimental to the experience of Homerecording.com

Damn, I checked out this thread to hear about his thoughts on the C3, and after like 40 posts, there's not a thing here! It was an interesting discussion, but I think we need to change the thread name to "philosophical dissertation on the validity of posts from newbies, and the likelihood of infiltration into the BBS by corporate spies." C'mon! I want to hear about the mic! :) [I have a C1 by the way, I like it, I bought it because of magazine reviews and comments on this board, and I am not some sort of agent for corporate hype!!!!]

Its an awesome mic at an awesome price....search Studio Projects....you wont see much bad said about it here, if anything......

I think people attacking suspected spammers is just as bad as someone spamming. It creates a situation where someone may have purchased a peice of equipment and really be satisfied with it, but, not feel comfortable about saying its good...or recomending it. It really sucks that a dude buys a mic and gets flamed for saying so.
"newbies need to lay low" man...that takes the cake.

maybe the "self appointed spam patrol" ought to have swastika icons by their name....so newbies will know they are the gestopo ....then they will understand why they're being attacked.

peace

The man is interested in giving HIS opinion on a mic, and I'm interested in hearing it.
What the fuck has that got to do with the search engine?

I noticed that you only have two posts , so you are a new member.

I just want to know why you thought that homerecording.com/bbs/ wanted to know your thoughts on any mic's build.

Is the mic the best built youve ever had? If its not, why didnt you mention the other solidly built mics, you know, the ones that you have actually heard?

Why dont you tell us ,while you are at it, about your other gear that got rave reviews and is not irreplaceable in your studio, you know, the ones that you have actually used?

How did you find homerecording.com/bbs, by the way?

FWIW, the shockmount used on the sps are used in many other mics, and there have been reports of the mics falling out of the shock mount, including some of the SP mics. So whats your standard for well built?

HOLY SHIT!!!
Is this how you greet new people? You don't know him. Yet you judge him. You probably frisk new friends before they enter your home...
Thank you, Mr. Spam Police, for protecting us from those evil spammers.
People on this board can make up their own minds about spam, mics, or anything else without your vicious bullshit. I've made up my mind about you....you suck.
You owe that man an apology. I doubt he will get one...pity.

when someone registers on to a bbs to basically rave about a product,

Then I suspect that they are in someway trying to change opinion about that product or create desire for the product, whether that desire is deserved or not.

by the way,

my marshall v67g was built like a tank and had the same solid shockmount as the Sp,s

Now imagine me becoming a new member of a board just to tell the members that.
Jesus...
Anyone here has the right to change anyone's opinion about a product.
What's wrong with that?
What's wrong with creating a desire for a product?
He said he doesn't sell them.
Who are you to decide what products are worthy of desire or not?
What would be wrong with you posting about your V67G as a new member?
I'll tell you what I'm gonna do.
I gonna use the search engine (like the public face of the DBX company suggested a few posts back), and do a search of all the posts made by you and Mr. DBX. I will find out what what products YOU have recommended or commented on throughout your many posts, and make sure I buy none of them. How can anyone trust your judgement when you say such stupid shit?

My C3 just arrived moments ago and I was impressed by how solidly built it seems to be, very good sign but I know the proof is in the ears. I comes in a very nice solid case with a hearty, well built shock mount. I hadn't read too much about these mics until a couple of customers (I own a music store and a rec. studio) started to ask if I could get them. I called up Alan who was very nice, available and fair, to see if I could become a dealer (I had at least 2 customers who would have bought c1's right away) he told me who to contact and when I did I was told that a music store in the next town just got the line and I was too close to them to get the line as well. Oh well. But these requests peaked my curiosity about the mics and I started reading up on them on the bulliten boards (haven't seen any reviews in the mags yet) and I figured, with these kind of first hand raves and those prices, how could I not check one out. So, I have a mixing session which unfortunately will go late tonight, but right after that I'm going to put this thing through some tests and I'll report back. Like I said, so far I'm impressed by the packaging and the solidity, always a good sign at any price. I'll let you know mho asap. Now the minutes start to slow to a snails pace.

Spectoar,
WELCOME!!! I am very interested in what you think about your C3. I have 2 C1's that I'm very happy with, but after hearing the C3 on the SP CD, I thought the C3 sounded better that the C1.
You get attacked for just smiling around here, so be careful...;)
I'm sure you'll love your mic, as it's a steal for the price.
again,
WELCOME!!!!!

I've defended Alan from people who accuse him of stupid bullshit.
What about you, Gidge, you work for Marshall or ART.....I guess it takes an ass licker to know one...

Wow. I'm a "newbie" with only two posts, and already I'm hesitant to open my mouth. Up until this thread, I was diggin' the heck out of this fine BBS. Anyway, whats funny about the attack is Spectoar just gets the mic--hasn't even made a claim about the performance of the product, and the flamethrowers come out. Fortunately, I continued to read and found that most feel like I do about the whole thing. Enjoy the mic! I'll keep posting because I love the info here and I have learned a LOT about microphones in the last week. In fact, I ordered a Marshall V67 as a birthday present for a good friend of mine, based on Harvey's rave review. So you better watch out, I might be an MXL plant, even though I have niether seen nor heard this product, or the Studio Projects line. Thanks Harvey, for the help and info! I plan to stick around regardless and learn from everybody. Oh, and I WILL post a review of the V67 after it arrives.

You know, sometimes, you just need to trust others.

Holy Christ!
