Hi Dave
i really hope i can get my head around it then mate. its the first time ive ever used anything like this at all,,,
and im a dummy with such stuff too.do you know if the Line 6 Guitar Port could be used with this software at all?
its £99 here at the moment,,and looks a great wee thing.
i have a POD2 but i cant use that with the pc.
also,,,,am i able to use and other cd software with drum loops or samples with NTRACK,,and if if so,,,
how would a fudd like myself go about that in the easiest way?
hhehhe! Told you,,,,QUESTIONS APLENTY!

hey, Pop. welcome, and congrats on getting so far in your first session. N is very intuitive. It's easy to get started, but you'll be amazed at how powerful this little proggy is.

There are many people using PODs and SansAmps, J-Stations.. whatever.. with N. The question is; what connections do you have available? Are you just using a stereo sound card? If so, you only have Line-In and Mic-In connections. More advanced cards will have MIDI, Firewire, USB, and others.

For me, I stick with Line-In. But i use a rack-mount mixer to plug my SansAmp and mics into.

Oh.. don't use your sound card's Mic In. nasty.. use an external mic pre (a mixer perhaps?) and the card's Line In.

Even what your mentioning is above my head at the moment.
its a big deal for me to even get this far,,so thanks for that.
i shall try my best,,but i have guitarist syndrome to get over too, heheheh!
thanks for replying,,,and be prepared to see many questions along the way ok?
cheers mate

Pop,
No problem; ask as many questions as you like.

There are a couple basics you've got to get straight first. Obviously you have successfully transfered tracks into N, but have you recorded anything yet?. How you make the physical connections between mic and PC will greatly effect the quality of your recordings.

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't know what an MR8 is. So i don't know what type of connections it has. If it's an audio connection, you'll want to make sure to use the Line-In of your sound card (not the Mic In). The Mic In of most inexpensive sound cards are junk, bud. If you're gonna plug in a mic, use a decent pre-amplifier (most mixers have them built in).

I'm pretty sure the Line6 has a Line Out connection. That would connect nicely with the Line In of your sound card (or mixer). But i'm a drummer, not a guitarist. So check with someone else about that before you buy.

You mentioned not being able to use a Pod2 with a PC. Why is that? Isn't there a Line Out connection on it?

As for software, check out a program called FL Studio . It's a great drum programmer for little money. It works just fine with N.
