When I finaly got serious I bought a VS 1680 and a cheap drum machine and dove into it. Learned it all on my own with no schooling what so ever so...
He finally got serious, learned it all on his own, with no schooling whatsoever, and all without ever even having put his hands on an SM57.

Sorry if this point was addressed already. I don't have time to read the whole thread, I just wanted to point out, that this statement had me rolling in the floor.

I will read the rest of the thread later, for it's entertainment value. :D

Dang, how'd I miss all of this? Maybe if I lie down between the seats I can wait it out until it plays again ...

Oh by the way Newtons Law, you are 100% right, Shure 57's are designed purposefully to be clip mounted on drums, please use them like that. Also brilliant to clip one actually ON the kick beater - try that. But whatever you do, keep using those clips!!!
Absolutely not,

Do not listen to this foolish advice Figgie Newton.

You should get rid of the clips and immediately hire a team of 4 drunk monkeys to hold the mics in place.

My advice to Newton is, if you still really have any desire to hang around here, come back under a different name. I'm afraid your "Newton" persona is marked for life now.
One more thing...

When you get your new personna, I wouldn't mention my 1680 and my sm57 drum mic kit for a while. LOL.

Wanker.

But he can't change his personna. His web page has a picture of him with his name etc.
Forever tarnished. Sad really. Could have been a nice new member. Oh well......

I don't think it matters... it seems he's already taken his ball and went home 2 pages of posts ago! ;)

:D

Damn, I was gonna offer $30 apiece for the 57`s and shut all that shit up....

So, after reading all of this, a thought struck me. Does any one know why the screen rotates? I remember being confused by that the first time I saw one. I own one now and still don't see the reason for it. Sorry to bump this thread up, but I just have to know.

"freaky"...... two posts...... same question....... I smell "Newton's Law" back again

I swear to you that I'm not newton's law! My spelling is just a tad better and I don't have that full blown studio that he does!<g> Ok, I do use an 880ex. I don't want to get off to a bad start here, I was just curious about the rotating screen (never had a problem with it buzzing though, I use a stand...). I guess I should have started a question on a different thread though, huh?

Harvey answered that question already (or maybe is was in Newton's cross-posted thread...)
