Just bought 3 SM 57's . Something is very wrong. Please help!

I know you felt it was harmless. That's why I stated what I did in my post.

You chose to be argumentative after you were advised of the rules.

That was the context or your first reply to BB's first reply. I will not quote it, it can be easily found at this point. Regardless of the replies you recieved about your initial question, arguing about what is proper in our home is irrelevant.

The rules are very cut and dried. Follow the rules and you will be welcome here.

The screens on the Shure SM-57 are manufactured loose. I do not know anything about the mic clips rattling when attached to drums. If they rattle, do not attach them and use stands. A drop of Cyanoacrylate on the edge of the mic screen will cure your screen vibration problem.

I know I offended alot of folks with the Cross posting issue.

And beleive me if it had been you that posted first to inform me about not cross posting I would have gladly said not a problem and not cross post.

Seeing how it was Blue and he had already started up with me I chose to rebel against basicly anything he had to say.

Its not the clips that are rattling. Its the end caps that rotate freely on the SM 57's that are creating the rattle.

And again I feel strongly that there is nothing wrong with using these drum clips. I know many have advised against it but I feel thats just their preferance for I can use my Beat 57 on these clips and they work great. no rattle, positioning is just right, I get great responce. And if you seen the small both I have this drum set in you would realise that these clips are my best option for miking this kit.

The problem is definitly in the end cap.

I have contacted Shure about this and this is their reply:

Shure technical support:
The grill on the SM57 should be able to rotate, but should not rattle. There should not be any problems using the mounting clips.

Please contact our Service Department at 800-516-2525 or 847-866-2699. The SM57's need to be returned to our Service Department.

Also, when you send them in, please put a note in the box that indicates the microphones should be given to me, XXXXXXX.

Since the grills should not rattle, I want to make certain these particular microphones get to our Quality Department so they can see the issue and resolve any problem that may be occuring.

See Blue insisted that these mics are not designed for use on these type of mounting clips yet the company that makes them tells me otherwise. Personaly Im going to beleive the compony until they prove otherwise. If the Mics they send back to me do the same thing then back to the store they go. its that simple. Ill go buy a set of Audix mics. And drum mounting clips lol.

Again thank you for a moment of clarity Senn this is my intended discussion.
When I first posted here I never inteded for this to get out of hand.

Actually it wasn't wrong at all.... but you wouldn't know the difference anyways...... you've got A SERIOUSLY long way to go before even being a normal, well-balanced individual, much less developing any sound engineering skills......!

Cause you do know your talking to a novice. My experience is limited to my VS 1680 and programing some midi with drum machines.

Considering my lack of experience and lack of equipment I think those are pretty damn good recordings. For I have heard far worse recordings by far more experienced engineers using far superior equipment.

So lets have it.

If you would like to let us know which general area you live in, I am sure we will be able to recommend a suitable therapist.

I would speculate that your aggression most likely stems from the fact that your mother didn't breast feed you and took your pacifier away too quickly.

Either that or you have a tiny, little, teeny-weeny cock and you use your, shall we say "unique", vocabulary in rather amusing attempts to compensate. Again, there are trained professionals who can help you with that, little, problem.

Since you get angry when people say that you are wrong, and you aren't very good at rationalizing, I suggest you stop rationalizing, becuse somebody will sooner or later tell you that your rationale is bad, and then you'll get angry.
