cool cover... you know, I think I've actually heard this song before :) unlike many "covers" on these pages :( ;)

Very clean... nice interpretation; you should get some "female attention" for your efforts

Jag - looking forward to hearing the results. You got me excited.

W.I.S.C. - Man, you make me feel old. This is one of our "newer" covers. :) Of course you're right, there are a lot of 20-somethings that probably never heard the original. Glad you like the acoustic sound, although the recording technique is no great shakes. It was recorded into a Studio Projects C1 mic, using a Mackie mixer for pre-amps and then into a Delta 1010. Although I've read all kinds of techniques for mic placement, I pretty much leave the mic at the same height as you would for a vocal, and stand in front of it and play. I had to turn up the gain pretty high to pick up the finger picking. If you listen closely I think you can hear my hair growing. :D

Participant - thanks for listening. You can send the females this way anytime you'd like.

Well all righty now. :) With any luck I'll have it this weekend.

I haven't read anyone else's comments yet (I will, though), but here are my impressions:

Well, as usual, dynamite harmonies.
The guitars sound great.
The reverb police are gonna write you up with just a warning this time.
I think you need a softer kick drum patch. It's got that snappy heavy metal click to me (and too much 'verb).

...then again, the '80's was a decade of lotsa reverb.

As usual, nice job:cool:

LOL. You see when you lack any mixing talents, you make up for it with reverb. If that don't work, lots of delay and chorus.

Thanks for the feedback, Chuck.

Sounds really great Mike!
The acoustic sounds very fine, and the vocals were excellent!
Nice to hear you singing solo, you have a great voice man!

Fade out was a nice touch.

Great cover,I really enjoyed it!

Thanks,
Pete

So...have you gotten the tracks back? Man, I think this is gonna' be cool.

Don't forget to START A NEW THREAD when you get a new version.

Pete - thanks for the kind words. That's not me singing the lead. The singer does have a good voice, but we've been debating whether it's right for this particular song or not.

BTW, the fade-out was stolen directly from the original. Thanks for listening and I'm glad you liked the acoustic - it's a new one I bought a couple of months ago. This is the first recording I've made with it. Records pretty nicely I think.

Chris - the CD with the vocal track is in the mail to me. I was hoping it would show up today, but I just checked the mail and :(

I guess we'll both have to wait 'til Monday now. I thought I'd have the whole weekend to mix it. Guess I'll just have to just watch football instead. :D

Ladies and gentlesmen - I just heard a preview of jag's vox track for this song. All I can say is, ARE YOU IN FOR A TREAT :D (assuming I manage not to screw it up trying to mix it.)

See...now, that's just mean. LOL.

You probably have a job, too...so you can't even mix tomorrow. ...

BOOOOOOOOooooo.

:D

I'm sure it'll be cool. Have fun with it...(and post it as a new thread, b/c it's Sunday night, which means that I have to hit the old "unsubscribe" button for all the threads that are cloggin up the inbox.

Yeah...new thread.

'Bout 5:30 tomorrow cool? Okay, good. See it then.

:D

It's called a teaser. You know, like "Naked lesbians in your neighborhood? Details at 11:00."

:D :D :D :D

Tell Carly to keep humming. Nothing in tonight's mail. :(

It better be here tomorrow or I'm gonna have to go postal on the Post Office.

I have no idea what version I'm listening to, and I never heard the original..

great vocals and recording.. I have no suggestions or nitpicks for this one.. sounds great to me! I normally don't like that much verb, but I liked it here..

it's actually really great.. that part @2:20 was very cool, but I never heard the original..

You know...if both of you have high speed internet connections, you can transfer tracks over an "Instant Messenger" type program like MSN Messenger. At 16bit, that vocal .wav file is probably about 45MB, which (depending on the upload speed of Jagular), should allow you to transfer it as a .wav file in about 2 hours.

For a vocal, I'd definitely transfer the .wav file, but most of my internet collaborations are done via mp3 (so sue me).

I think B.Sabbath has some program that allows you to break up .wav files into smaller chunks also, so you can email them and still get under the file size restrictions of most email accounts.

Just an idea for future collabs.

or right now, whatever...no pressure.

Done yet?

Actually I downloaded this and burnt it to CD and the verb on the lead sounded better on my trucks stereo than on my monitors.
