Ok so here's another one of those songs. This is about as good as it's going to get. I don't plan on spending much more time on it, but I figured I would see what you guys thought anyways :D

Homeless on the streets it ain't easy
A bum asked for dollar but you refuse
You say you won't support his habit, he'll spend your money on drugs not food
A tear in his eye and he's still not rude to you

Doing time in prison it ain't easy
Caged like an animal for years
The place is filled with all kinda of people wishing they were somewheres else
Already read every book up on the shelf

And your next door neighbor is always drinking
Most of the time he drinks alone
He cranks up the radio and sing along to his favorite song
And for a few minutes his pain is gone

SOLO

Mike, Josh And Me would always party
At that patch of woods in San Antone
Skippin School and having fun, getting high and doing beer runs
All the kids in the hood would stop on by

Sometimes living life just ain't easy
When you live your life your own way
Working hard to party all day, don't give a damn about what anyone's got to say
You got to be true to you

I'm gonna start calling you Faron Phil instead of foul phil. lol
Another great outlaw style country original. I love this stuff! Good arrangements and mix. I would say it just needs steel but who needs steel when you can whistle!

hahaha thanks. I wish I had some steel LOL. Fixing to have a Banjo and Mandolin after the holidays are over and done with. I'll need a few months to learn how to play them and then I'll have it really going on. Eventually I want to get a weisenborn lap steel as well. :D

Is that your vocals and acoustic shredding? Wow when are you playing michigan. . .

How did you record vocals? They sound great. Is that one voice at a lower octave and two at a higher octave panned apart?

Yeah. I been playing guitar for a long time and sometimes I can shred which I mostly only do when I can't think of anything original to play. I'll just play some licks I already played on another song and play them in I think 16ths? Believe it or not after 20+ years of playing I still don't know what some things are called. And I'm also not playing faster than 110 Beats Per Minute. I can't play faster than that without getting sloppy. I'm still trying to get up to 120 BPM

I don't ever play live :D

I recorded the vocals in my living room using my old ass AKG C3000B. It's a pain in the ass of a mic, but once you get use to it after many years of frustration you can really get some smooth vocals out of it.

I use a CAD Vocal Shield which some people believe to be a gimmick, but I tell you my vocals were really horrible sounding before I started using it. It's an amazing product that I bought on sale for $50 dollars :p

The vocals are the main lead which are lower, then a mid type vocal and a high type vocal. It really takes a lot of experimenting. I could never do it before, but now I can pull it off. You know what though? It's still very sloppy. So many off time parts, but for some reason still kind of sounds good. So, I just hope to get better at harmonizing with practice. I'm working on my last country-ish type song for the year. After this next song I'll do some heavy metal stuff (I think).

I can hardly whistle anymore. But I can pan vocals. Good mix idea.

Great song Phil. And a whistling solo! I seriously can't get over how much better your mixes are than a couple of months back. You got air in your midrange that let's the quieter sounds through, like that high harmony vocal on the right. Is that you?

I think it's because each new song starts where the last one left off and then I just tweak and make improvement. I've done a lot of songs over the last few months really LOL. I don't even know how, but like they say when it rains it pours. Yeah I'm singing all the vocals. I can get pretty high, but I'm not using a lot of effort so it doesn't strain my voice. It's like a quiet high if that makes sense?

Pretty cool.
The only real let down is the drum track. The kick doesn't sound right for the style. Plus the snare fills are a little loud.
Nice

Yeah it's more of a hip hop type beat lol

Great tune Phil, I agree with Ray, that kick isn't doing the song any favors. Other than that, GREAT song.
