ISRC codes. Creating final master.

Hello all,

Quick and easy one here, hopefully.

I have six final mastered songs. I want to make a master disc with ISRC codes embedded so I can send it for duplication.

I'm on a mac, osx 10.6.8 and don't have logic.

I'm not in a position to buy software, so i figured there'd be a free trial of something I could try, but no luck.


I found a free app simply titled "Burn" which does allow ISRC codes to be added per track, but for some reason it sets the same code for all tracks.

If I changed the code for any track it applies that code to all of them.


Can anyone recommend a free app or trial version for osx?

(A) Not that I'm aware of - PC or Mac.

(B) I'd very highly suggest against the "DIY" route to the actual production master unless you know precisely what you're doing and know precisely what the software is doing.

Authoring the production master isn't exactly rocket surgery, but it's a very (VERY) precise operation that's very (VERY) easily screwed up (in so many ways).

The stories I could tell you about bands having to rip open one or two thousand discs and replace them all because someone decided to "make a copy" or otherwise alter the production master...
 
Unfortunately I've no choice but to do it myself. Who's meant to do it?

On a brighter note though, it's only a run of 50 for a local fella to sell at gigs.

I ended up getting a Nero trial on someone elses laptop (windows), so touch wood, I think everything went OK.

And Nero is one of very few consumer programs that actually authors an audio disc to spec (although that's only "from what I'm told" - I was told by a fairly credible source).
 
if we are anyway just talking about 50 copies to be sold on live gigs.... do you really need ISRC?
