No offense buy yamaha suck at making guitars. Still i guess $150 is cheap. It could be good as a first electric but dont take it serously.

What do you think of it. Thats what counts

well..i have a 20-year old yamaha fg-335 acoustic that i love.....i've been playing acoustic and bass forever but i'd like an electric for recording some parts.....

on the aes500...the neck felt nice...it was also setup nice.....the finish looked great...but i dunno...i wanted to plug it in to hear it and he said he didn't have an amp...hmmm....it has a nato body according to the spec..wtf is nato? i really worry that i'll get it and the pickups will be noisy or crappy lol...

Im not an expret on this but id say the pickups will probably be crappy. What do you expect. If you want quality you have to pay for it.

yeah............well............yeah......sometimes one can get lucky though...

i have the money to buy a new guitar...that's not the problem...

i just stumbled on this this morning while out with the wife...saw it from the street...i had never heard of it so i'm just curious about it.......i'm sure he'll sell it if someone comes along..i could probably offer him $125 and he'd take it.....or maybe $100.....

That way you wont waste $150 on a guitar you wont want

im not familar with that model, but yamaha pacifica electrics are very well built for the money. i'd prefer one to a squier for the price. while not a gibson, the yamaha pacifica models are very nice playin guitars. never knock a guitar by it's brand name. if it plays good and sounds good, forget the price and name and just buy it.

Ditto to what Scriabin just said.

Yamaha DOES make some excellent guitars!
Have you checked out the reviews of the AES500 on Harmony Central?
I did, and ALL the user comments had high praise for this guitar....

Anybody who states Yamaha makes shitty guitars is severely misinformed.

Rermember that killer tone that Carlos Santana had on Black Magic Woman and all of his other hits of the early seventies?
That was a Yamaha SGB, his signature guitar at the time.

Read on, all ye nay-sayers....

Better yet, check any Yamaha electric reviewed here, most of them are rated quite high.

Buck

right-on buck!! (i do remember we share a love of ye ole fg-335..lol)

i agree that yamaha makes quality instruments....this guitar was setup great and had a killer feel to the neck...but the pickups i worry about and the nato wood body..i have never heard of that material b4 so i'm ignorant about it...

and i did check out harmony-central this morning b4 i posted (i go there any time i'm gonna buy anything..just like i go to http://www.resellerratings.com before i purchase from an online company..the ratings are really dead-on...)..

anyway..i went back and he had packed up everything...so i rode to some local music shops to kill time..

while i was gone my wife and father-in-law rode by his house on their way somewhere and saw him in his yard..they stopped and offered him $125.00 cash and he wouldn't budge (i had told her to get it for that price if he would sell......i knew i could get at least that from a local pawn shop...they gave me waaay too much for stuff b4..lol)..

but i realize that i really want 2-sc and a bridge HB..so the pacifica looks interesting to me.....i'm trying to find a shop to try them out locally.....i did find a nice alvarez tele copy for $199.00 new...here's the model:

http://www.alvarezgtr.com/bigguitarspgs/ASG4GMbig.html

here's the specs:

'course no hb on that one.....plus i'd want to add grover tuners i think..i'm driving myself crazy lol..

i'm kinda "hyper" today 'cause i really miss my fg-335..she's been in the shop getting set up for 3 days and i'm lost..lol....

i tried but the truss rod wouldn't budge so i figured i'd get a pro to look at it...he's really backed-up with work but he's highly recomended....it's my only 6-string so it's like surgery lol..
:D

thanks for all of the feedback guys...i appreciate it..:)

I have a cheap Yamaha guitar (RGX211)I bought about 13 years ago and it plays fine....the frets are finally shot, so Im gonna grab up a $150 Pacifica....Id say $$ for $$ Yamaha makes a better guitar than Fender......

Look into Godin (LGX series) -- extremely versatile -- a lot of tonal variations -- and unbeleivable playability.... they're an excellent buy.....

Bruce

Bruce, Bruce, Bruce......

I dont think he was looking for a new guitar...he just stubled on a deal....now pay attention, there may be a quiz at the end of the lecture......
