i just recently bought the focusrite saffire 6 for vocal recording. i have my mic set up to it for
recording vocals and im getting really weak signal pick up i'm basicly
having to turn the gain all the way up to 10 to get a descent signal and
even then its not that good. and then after a while of it being on it will
suddenly kick in and get proper signal but then just dropping in and out while
i'm recording(very Frustrating). 1.Has this been known to be a common problem for anyone
else? 2.could it be my mic that is giving out a faulty signal? 3.should i get exchanged for a new one straight away?

What mic are you using? Are you monitoring through the Saffire, and hearing the problem, or it what is being recorded in your DAW?

i bought a cheap recording package which came with the isk hp-90. its not an expensive mic at all, do you think that might be the problem Mike?

Supposedly, ISKs are good mics, although just recently available as non-grey market in the US. I can't see any reference on their website to that model, though. Got another mic you can try?

Can't find any info on it, but does it need phantom power?
