What is the most compatible and best sounding pci interface for reaper?
running xp

There are all sorts of options. You are pretty safe with any of the offerings from EMU, M-Audio, MOTU, Presounus, Mackie, or RME. Past that it pretty much comes down to what features you want.

I was going to chime in and say that they will all probably work and sound good. It's all on you as to the sound going in.

But I don't record to my pc, so I guess my statements would be a moot point... :o

I'd add my vote to stay away from anything Dice-2 at the moment. Some have had luck with that setup, but its too much of a crapshoot

I've had great results with my M-Audio Delta 1010lt.

yeah

I've had great results with my M-Audio Delta 1010lt.

yeah i was thinking about one of those.

here is my actual situation.
i use to have a q-10 going into reaper. i loved it
my computer was acting up
i got a new computer.
Reaper and my interface started to freak out
took my computer in to get check (everything was ok)
i sold my la-610 and my q-10 to get a 003 Digidesign
New Computer / New Interface / New Pro Tools
i now realize it was not my interface, it was SP3 (came with computer)
So i down graded back to SP2
studio runs great
I dislike Pro Tools very much
i miss reaper
the 003 interface sucks horribly with any other DAW, it will work, but the monitoring latency makes the device useless for recording into anything other than Pro Tools.
"Pro Tools has a LOW LATENCY MONITORING button"

my heart and my wallet are both broke

That really sucks man - very sorry to hear.

I think everybody here has probably made some expensive mistakes at some point.

I hated Pro Tools M-Powered..... the program performed poorly, and was extremely bloated.

Pro Tools = 700 +MB

Reaper = 3+ MB

WTF? Why so bloated Pro Tools?

Anyway, sorry to hear, that does really suck.

Time to move onward and upward. Do whatever you got to do to get back into Reaper.

Good luck.

I use an 8 channel Firepod with Reaper. Haven't even loaded the Cubase that came with it. Reaper rules, (even though I will never figure out 99% of what all it can do.):o:cool:
