i dont have the most amazing sounding room, but i am getting a pretty good mix for what i am working with, and i am pleased thusfar...

but as my studio isnt the best, i dont get the best bands obviously...

with that said, they arent always great at knowing their instruments...

long story short, im sick of bad sounding toms...

i'd like to know if anyone has any advice to offer on how i'd be able to (with no midi gear, using cakewalk sonar 3 producer and an echo layla set up) use the peaks of a tom recording to trigger a tom sample instead

thank you in advance, i hope this is clear

Well I'm new to home recording so I'm probably not the best person to answer this but I think Drumagog should work for you. www.drumagog.com You can set it to trigger a sample if the sound is at a certain frequency etc... I've been playing around with it tonight and its a cool plugin. Try it out and see if it works for you. It has a pdf manual that comes with it to give you some help. Good luck.
