like are you going to plug guitars in, mic the amp, plug through a guitar head.
is that the only mic you have
and ya what kind of music, guitars specifically. that would affect my opinion.
for instance, matching a really crunchy metal sound on free software is hard.... impossible lol, so i would mic the amp, but with a dif mi than you have.
but our formation of recording is using ezdrummer to play what we think will go good with guitars then play that while were playing guitar then we head to vocals...but we dont have a singer so right now were doing demos to find a singer
if that makes sense
Man, you were smart enough not to post this in something besides the Newbie forum, so you're cool. Spoon feeding is what this one's for. Good luck, and once you start getting some mixes together, check out the mp3 mixing clinic for some awesome advice and info.

Once ive figured that out... i think i can figure the rest from thereAdobe is a free reader, get it here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGO
If you can't download/install it, get some computer-geek help!
ya idk what kina result you're gona get from micing the amp with that mic.
traditionally when you use a mic on an amp its a dynamic. i like to use an SM57. it's inexpensive and god quality, industry standard for 100 bucks is a no brainer buy. if you're thinking of continuing with recording i'd get one.
really
thats interesting.
your computer prolly doesn't have a sound card
you need a USB or Fire Wire interface depending on what ports your comp has
plug the mixer output into the input of the interface then usb to the comp
what the hell.what thing?? jus monitor the tracks in the software you should be able to hear it on headphones
ya idk i use Logic pro 8 on a Macbook pro. logic pro is very simple. music is the reason i love macs.
i got started playing drums, then started getting into hip hop beats on Reason
then got into recording more when i got a mac with garage band. then steping up and recording full projects and bought logic pro.
its just the natural progression you go from one to bigger and better stuff
haha thats kewl yo. I have a windows xp
ya i'm not as familiar with PC's but the recording techniques are the same
for instance my comp has a sound card/ interface built in. i still use an Alesis interface cuz it has real preamps.
but i love recording to logic. as far as saving tracks do you jus mean saving the song so u can come back to it. or saving the rig as a template so you don't need to find everything next time.
but the pc version of garage band is mixcraft (in my eyes) it works GREAT
If that made any sense to you .... if it does you deserve a medal haha cause thats the only way i can explain it...and its not a technical problem sooo its not that
