Perhaps one of the most interesting and colorful words in the English language today is the word "fuck".

It is a magical word which, just by its sound can describe pain, pleasure, love, and hate. In language, "fuck" falls into many grammatical categories.

It can be used as a verb both transitive (John fucked Mary) and intransitive (Mary was fucked by John).

It can be an action verb (John really gives a fuck),

a passive verb (Mary really doesn't give a fuck),

and adverb (Mary is fucking interested in John),

or as a noun (Mary is a terrific fuck).

It can also be used as an interjection (Fuck! I'm late for my date with Mary).

It can even be used as a conjunction (Mary is easy, fuck she's also stupid).

As you can see there are very few words with the overall versatility of the word fuck.

Aside from its sexual connotations, this word can be used to describe many situations:

1. Greetings........."How the fuck are ya?"

6. Disgust................"Fuck me."

14. Directions.............."Fuck off."

It can be maternal........"Motherfucker!"

Censorship is not good, but words are not benign. They can inflict wounds that may never heal. While very few want to shut people's mouths to speak, that power has a responsibility. As with any weapon, one must know how to use safely use it.

I have to agree words are very powerful, and can do damage that goes beyond what a physical weapon could do.

Lol. Come on now. No they can't. A physical weapon can kill you. Paralyze you. Do irreparable damage. The worst words can do is hurt your feelings.

The word "Fuck" is my all-time favorite word. And I've enjoyed doing it and using it since I was just a mere lad! I'd have to say that it's probably the most expressive of all words. Just MHO.

I know a lot of people who are crippled for life based on words. Not sure if you have kids, but say something nasty to someone who really looks up to you. Never under estimate what scars words can leave behind. Also, words can kill, many people have killed themselves based on words said. Maybe a leather ass'd guy like you that could never happen. But there are many, I mean many, people that words have done much damage.

While this may be true for you, you are one of a few.

Wer'e talking physically Dave, not intellectually, emotionally, or spiritually.

You compared words to physical weapons. They're not the same. I can call you a "pussy" (I'm not, this is just for argument's sake) and it might hurt your feelings but you can walk away and live another day. Or I can cut your head off with a machete or shoot you in the face and you die immediately. Which is more harmful? I'm not saying words can't be harmful. But more harmful than physical weapons? Lol. No. Words only hurt because people allow them to hurt. People that kill themselves over words aren't emotionally equipped for life anyway. Hooray for leather ass'd guys like me. Only the strong survive.

Iv'e never understood the mentality of followers. Followers are the reason things are so screwed up. They follow politicians, religious leaders, etc. I prefer to think for myself and get highly pissed when religious organizations and governments try to do it for me. Fuck them, I can think for myself!

Yeah Rami is one of the good guys. The whole "vibe" (I hate that word) of this place has changed dramatically. I think that's part of the reason why he took off.

Not surprised. I PMd him a while back but he gone!

+1 to that :thumbs up:

I bookmarked his website a few years back now and still visit regular to see what he's uploaded. Shame he left.

Haha. I did the same. Haven't checked back in a while but I think I will now.
Hope he's still recording.

I talk to him occasionally outside the site. He's doing very well. He's a cool dude.
I just stumbled upon this part of the conversation while checking out this hilarious thread. I really appreciate all that was said. You guys are alright. I love you guys.

Glad to see you back man. You kind of disappeared shortly after I joined. I always enjoyed your comments and your music. Stick around for while this time. LOL!

Theoretically words on their own aren't dangerous
Theoretically.
Real life however, isn't theoretical.
Remember the old, "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me" saying?
Yeah. I do.
And I will happily go on record as saying that it is one of the most idiotic sayings that I personally have ever come across. It was probably coined by a Hitleresque, Stalinesque type in the days when there were no newspapers. :D

I have to agree words are very powerful, and can do damage that goes beyond what a physical weapon could do.
The reason this rings true is simply because the person lives on and therefore the affecting words can also do so.
So it's a paradoxical statement because of course, one can argue, what's worse than death ?

The word "Fuck" is my all-time favorite word. I'd have to say that it's probably the most expressive of all words.
Apparently, it is an acrostic "for unto carnal knowledge" {'Carnal' denoting animal like or immoral, 'knowledge' coming from the Aramaic or Hebrew word that was translated into English in the 1600s to mean sex} that was coined in the middle ages and applied to young maidens that weren't married but had had sex.
Completely off the subject, apparently, the word
c u n t dates from a similar time and was the open ended sheath that soldiers used to carry their knives in, the in and out movement being analogous to.......

I can call you a "pussy" and it might hurt your feelings but you can walk away and live another day. Or I can cut your head off with a machete or shoot you in the face and you die immediately. Which is more harmful?
You know, put logically like that, the answer is obvious.
But when you break things down and really start pouring into it, it's by no means that straightforward. We have those that believe in the afterlife and, ironically, those that support abortion and euthanasia to thank for that.
I'm not saying words can't be harmful.
We give thanks.
Only the strong survive.
A bit like the "sticks and stones" saying, few things can be further from the truth. Many would argue that the strong need the weak far more than the other way around and that actually, both survive.

I've never understood the mentality of followers. Followers are the reason things are so screwed up.
I can think for myself!
Everybody follows at some point.
And following at some point is by no means incompatible with thinking for yourself. In point of fact, sometimes, in order to follow, you absolutely have to think for yourself.

A bit like the "sticks and stones" saying, few things can be further from the truth.

The internet is a perfect example that words can hurt. People get butthurt and flip out in here constantly. That's a mental or emotional weakness that I have no sympathy for. Words on a screen are still not as damaging as a brick to the head. Maybe I'm just more awesome than most. People talk shit to me all the time. Means nothing. If an individual is so emotionally fragile and unstable that words can drive them to something like suicide, then I blame their support structure. Parents, family, friends. If the person is all alone with no support structure, then so be it. They just weren't equipped to survive. Most people, even with their feelings hurt, can find a way to carry on. I don't blame the words or the person saying them. This is a mean world. We're just animals. Weak animals die off.

I still maintain that on their own, words are not dangerous. Words can only hurt if they're allowed to hurt. Which is what the "Sticks and stones" thing is saying. I'd be a complete idiot if I let Greg hurt my feelings by calling me a pussy, or by you for not agreeing with me. Anyone that gets hurt or angry by words is not thinking rationally. Again, just MHO! LOL!
