You might also think about going with something radically different like a ribbon. Often, people who don't like an LDC find that a ribbon gives them what they are looking for, and they take EQ pretty well by comparison, so they're easier to shape if they aren't exactly right to begin with. Just a thought.

Just to follow up, I ordered a Sennheiser MK4 last night. Should be here sometime next week

Also, I got a CAD m179 along with it just so I could screw around with it! Should be a handy thing to have (even though it's "CAD" ) Can't beat a multiple-pattern mic for $130!

Haha yeah, it's definitely the runt of the litter but I think it'll at least come in handy on toms! I was looking at the Sputnik for the longest time but I figured I should save up since I don't have any "official" room treatment

My laptop I record on stops working 3 days before my MK4 gets here. How dandy.

That joker won't turn on at all...I'm hoping it's something to do with the power supply and not the lappy itself.

These sucky things always happen to me....I'm also that guy who gets within sight of the bus stop as the bus pulls away and also the guy people spill crap on
