The less expensive the better (I know that is an illogical statement).

I'm a guitar player, I suck at playing keyboard, but it'd be nice to have one around less than 50 years old like my other keyboards...

Soooooooo.... If you HAD to buy a cheapy, whay would you buy? <$300

:o

The Alesis Ion Micro (or whatever it's actually called) should be right around your price range brand new, and is widely tipped to kick major butt. It's the mini version of the Ion with 49 (?) keys and three knobs.

Used, you can take your pick of a whole bunch of keyboards from the lower-line Korgs and Yamahas and Rolands to the upper line ancient Casios. Be warned that if you go too far back (15 years is probably a safe bet) the 'boards you'll find may have serious midi handicaps. That may not mean too much now, but if you decide that you really like playing keys you'll probably want to expand your system and you'll need a relatively modern midi spec to do it...

Check eBay! Their search engine lets you specify price as a criteria.
