If you need a mic for hip hop/rap, post your question in the rap beat forum. There are plenty of people over there(me included) that will be able to help you since we are in that music genre. See ya soon!

PhilGood said:That's the bad part about the music biz! No matter what style you are into or play or what you write, someone is going to hate it!
Fact of life, get over it!
tone_aot said:I'm not sure how to reply to this. I'm assuming you don't understand what i was trying to say. There have been way too many threads started in the microphone forum with the title "best mic for rap" or something of the sort. There is no best mic for rap, but i'm recommending they come to the rap beat section and ask people who are making rap music what mic to get. We make rap and we can recommend our mics based on experience. Although there is no guarantee of the same results, they will atleast share something in common with the person who is recommending the mic. Was that a little clearer? I know i don't explain myself very well sometimes so forgive me if i offended you or something.
that's how our associates felt.................nevermind I have a fair bit of hip hop/rap style stuff (method man & de la soul) are 2 that spring to mind & after listening...........it don't do it for me..........it's not my thing

thajeremy said:my only point is that just as there is not a "best" mic for rock vocals, or not a best mic for female folk vocals, and so on...I just dont see how there is a best mic for rap vocals. There are mics that better suit ones voice....even when rapping, your voice might sound better on an U87....Dr. Dre's might sound better on a AT4040. Most people wouldnt consider an sm57 as a best mic for rock vocals, but I like it on my voice, even though I have several "better" vocal mics. I just dont think people on another forum can help with this question any better than someone on this one....all you can do is recommend what you use...eventhough it might not be the best choice...
