Well that's really not that bad. You stole this song from the Eagles? They could have written it. Very nice.
Actually I like the kick-sound pretty much :D.

Well, you asked for it. This is quite embarassing but what the hell lol.

These were recorded early 90's when I first started playing. Maybe even earlier....very late 80's maybe.

These suck and are both experimental and full of mistakes. Not to mention the sound quality blows an the mixes suck. But hell, only 4 trax and to much time on my hands....how I long for that time now lol......

try not to pee your selves laughin at me:

Who knows maybe there will be some head bobin' when the metal heads hear "Unamed" lol

Well this is certainly working out! There are a lot of cool vibes floating around out there but...now we're gonna have to re-look at some of that old stuff because
F_ucksia
liled one of my old "crappy" tunes - now I have to re-think it! But you gotta here what HE did as a 12-year-old! This was some mature thought - way ahead of me when I was a lot older.

And then ther'e's that stretched version of "Crossroads" that HevyD47Ca did on a two-track - again proving the performance is more important than the medium. I've got a lot of old blues recordings that are done a helluva lot worse. Awesome rhythm section - and some ass-kickin' guitar, too! That kinda vibe makes me think about hagning around in a bar listening to a great band like that - while all the while I'm thinking about the theme of

SHEPPARDB. 's tune - the ole WHIKSER BISCUIT! Now that's where I live - straight from the heart and right into the jugular. Whooooweeee!

This'll make a cool CD! Great fun!

Okay, this thread is now officially worthwhile because it allowed me to hear SheppardB's "whisker biscuit blues. That one just went straight to my hard drive. Awesome! And pretty decent sound too.

i think that W-B-BLUES should be required listening for ALL newcomers to the clinic!:D

I apologize for the typo in my last post - I swear it was unintentional! I promise to preview from here out!

This thread is so great! All of the tunes I've listened to so far have a great vibe to them.

Track Rat -- That rocks, man! Sounds real good.

F_ucksia - 12??? :D I wish I had even an ounce of that talent when I was 12 (hell, I wish I still did) :)

Blue Bear - :D Okay, did you lift the beginning from the album? That is spot on, man. Sounds good!

Keep em' coming!

:D

Moonrider: I liked "Been there all along" - you have an "updated" version of that one? If not, you oughtta.

Chris

An update, "done right" is on the list of projects. Gotta get Chris and his Paul over here for the leads and vocals.

In the meantime, I've rotated three more songs onto the page ( http://www.mp3.com/yesterdayschild/ )

"Liner Notes" :
Another Round was done on the ol' stereo cassette and actually features me on the lead vocals.

See It In My Eyes and I Don't Know were done on the Tascam 414.

This was done in 1982, 4 track, long before I knew much of anything about recording.
Too bad I don't have the master anymore. All I had was a played out cassette copy.

Yeah - I flew the cash register in from the album...!

Impressive stuff btw, F_cksia....

You too, boydrj! :)

I actually have a pre-portastudio recording. I haven't heard any of these here yet, but I'll wager mine is worse. It was my first ever crack at recording something.

Mark for later :D

this will be fun

Oh man what a hoot!
You guys are good.
Oh well here is a cover (sorry waldo it wont stay up long its all I had)
Any way this was in the early80,s My third recording ever
with a tascam 22-4, 4 shure sm56 mic,s The cheap version of the sm57, And a sony mixer that just had cut swiches for eq and no reverb and no compression, Heck I didnt even know what compression was at that time,
I got this off a cassette mix from that year.

boydrj - I'm not the greatest:

Whoa... not bad... kinda full sounding for a lil 4-tracker... heh... nice drum machine :D Beatles-like; even the harmonies... jeez, this is good. Even when you "didn't know what you were doing", it sounds like you did ;)

caryindy - IJGHM:

Nice! Ambitious! Sounds like Zeppelin... during soundcheck or something (don't know what I'm talking about :)) the drumming especially... some Moog-y foog-y stuff there, too. Schweet. Some Floyd influence.

Groucho- The Final Friday Night:

Lol! Listen to that rattle... baby's rattle? Nice percussion :D Girls all got naked, some of them you wouldn't want to see... haha good lyrics. Gtrs sound good... overdubs, even. Whoa, fancy... esp for 4-track. One of the cleaner 4-track cassette things I've heard here. Might be worth recording. Good songwriting.

HevyD47: (2 track jam):

Whoa... what league are you in? The BIGS, brutha. I feel like such a poser ...
everyone, this is what a MUSICIAN sounds like :) Jeez... drumming... gtr on
the rockabilly tip... nothing but sweet! Man... zis thing's 7 minutes long  ;) What a bunch of SHOWOFFS  ;) (isn't showoff just another way of
saying "musician", tho?? :D  ;)) DAMN you have a good drummer.

MCGUitarz (tired of waiting):

haha... NICE use of the kick drum in the opener... sweet guitar licks... li'l
country flavor... jeez... you guys are all so talented... even when using
those li'l starter kits we all had. chrisharris would piss his PANTS listening
to this... (maybe) ;)

Pedullist (cello/double bass??):

11-years old?? Really cool... this was BEFORE you got into all those strange, non-sense English lyrics ;) Your practice has certainly brought you far.

TomD (Bugle Boy):

Is that YOU singing? Hmm... sounds like your sisters :( ;) Nice... swingy...
50's style swing. Very tight.

Bruce Bear Sound (Money):

This was 15 years back? Sounds pretty damn good... better than some of the
cleanest stuff on this board here. Really nice cover... that hiss has gotta
be killing you nowadays :) (unless you don't cue this up anymore ;)) Those
drums at least sound better than the SR16 on "Close To Me" Really nice
attention to detail, here. Every lick, every fill... nicely done.

Track Rat (Anytime):

Again... jeeeeez... this is HUGE!! All Van Halen, all the time!! :D Got that
"brown sound"... bea-uu-tee-ful. Flanger to the max. So, is "O.D.O.M." gonna get
off the ground? A good one for the catalog ;) Okay... so now you're my idol...
is that the same vocalist as on "Victim"? Tight.

Everyone

Dammit, these were supposed to be crappy!! like this!! :p

Chad

sorry... just missed ya

Herm

Very cute keys :) Kinda kitschy... but very decent for 4-tracks. Listen to those vocal overdubs and bounces... nice... then fade...?? Oh, well... it was 1:28 of pure sap... and it tasted good!! :D

F_cksia

12?? Whoa, you went thru puberty early :p (wait... maybe I'm listening to the wrong song... I'll go back and check...)

Yep... I was listening to that other thing you have up...

now THAT's what I'm talking bout!! Some nice pno, but that sounds like a 4-track :) 12-years old, eh? Maybe my stuff could pass for a 9-year old's then :p Sounds like some Richard Clayderman, or something. Very talented kid there...

Moonrider

I'll hit yours later...

SHEPPARDB

I believe I've heard "WBB" before and commented on it... t'was about eating "pie" or something  ;)

Chad - you reviewed the thread very well, keeping in mind that this old analog stuff still has it's place in a digital world.
You were TOO kind to me, but right on regarding the boys. The drummer had 2 Istambul zildjians from the 50's!!

I just Q'd you up on the monitors................
Youthful vocal, I see what your saying re: the bassline.
Not bad at all P and totally in keeping with this thread:D

On another note and to keep this thread alive, I found an example of my favorite analog effects pedal, the:
Boss DM-3 Analog Delay (japanese model green label):)

It's the first lead from our version of Rocky Mnt Way (just a couple of minutes this time:))

Thanks Participant. I only had about a 1.5 minutes of the tune cause all i had was the demo we made of a couple of songs
to give to bar owners. I wish I still had the complete songs.

The keys were a Wurlitzer electric piano alot like a Fender rohdes.
The girl playing the piano was married to a guy that used to tour
with Jefferson airplane , Played Horn or something like that.

Cool, Hevy. I'll check that out!

On a less embarrassing note ;)

Tumor

More of the hard-rock style part-i-pants does :o Only embarrassing because of the production/recording, and the 50 second breakdown that'll put you to sleep ;)

C

EDIT - Damn! I missed ya, sjcrts!!

(your song)

Nice rock sounds!! Metallica influence? No, more like Megadeth (the bass sound). This rocks. Hey... ever think about re-doin' this pup? Sounds pretty cool... even w/a limited setup.
