...and it turns out they've been around all the time, but just not stocked near here until recently.
Vic Firth "Jazz Brushes" heavy gauge wires, full spread, heavy duty cases and retractable.
I've been complaining for a few years about the quality of the brushes that are being made by the other companies, all wussy with thin gauge wires that are real short with no action. I've had to heavily mic up the snare from top and bottom to get any sweeps.
So far this is the only company that I've seen that's making brushes the way they used to.(about $15.00 a pair) They (Vc Firth) make two kinds, the standard common wussy variety that comes in a black handle and the more usable manly "Jazz Brushes" that come in a white handle (shouldn't the colors be the other way around?)
I thought I'd share, in case there are any of you that have been searching also.
