Huge influx of idiots to the forum? or just me?

While I agree with the statements brought up about people not using the search function, or not even reading anything before asking a question, just remember to treat them with the respect you would want if you did the same thing. It's ok to point people's errors out, and tell them how to find the info, but try and do it respectfully to someone who is new. Give them the benifit of the doubt, until they shit on themselves by being disrespectful. You will look much better to the people who actually can use your advice by doing this. We are all new at something, all the time, and don't want bad experiences, for the most part. If they act like an ass, then they are one. But most people just want some help, and are very grateful for getting some. I know I am whenever someone helps me. They should tell you this. It's why we are all here...... :D

interesting thread.

i see the point of the thread starter, but i disagree.
this happens on all forums. the older members bitch and moan about the old days.
ok.

most of everything i feel needs to be expressed has been, so i wont retype whats already been said, except, settle down.
people who post what you think are dumb questions, will come around.
we all had dumb questions. ( i still do).
breath and move on, there are bigger things to deal with.

as for all the low blows at "hip-hoppers"...
i tend to laugh when people say hip-hop isnt music.
its funny to watch somebody feel superior when sitting in ignorance.
you dont know anything about hip-hop, if you judge it from mtv.
Dan the Automator is a producer who use to be a classical composer.
if you think making hip-hop dosnt take skill, i dare you to make a good hip-hop album. it takes as much patience and skill as what ever genra of music you listen to.

the gangsta talk is annoying. but to equate it with ignorance, is not only shallow, but ignorant in itself.

if you think all hip-hop is garbage, PM me. i will send you some stuff that might change your way of thinking.

.peace.

(please excuse the grammatical errors. i am a hip-hopper after all)

"But if it's on a topic covered in another forum, best to post it there."

^thats what it says at the bottom of the newbie forum.
seems newbies arnt the only ones making threads before reading.

ii'm a newbie, but the starter of this thread is a hipocrate (excuse the spelling), he yells about newbies posting all over, then post this bullshit topic in the mixing/mastering section? wtf is that about. i hate selfish people, im a newbie, but i share the little that i know. just because you want to act like youre some big ass star and you have the ultimate knowledge, don't try to put down those who are trying to learn.. don't be asses about people showing the least bit of initiative in wanting to gain knowledge from each other...

The point was that people who don't take 5 minutes to see if the answer to their question is already there show no initiative whatsoever.

Did you read the whole thread? Your concern was addressed about 20 posts ago.

The troubling thing is, I really do use the work shan't on a daily basis. I also have a habit of talking in a fake, Spinal Sap-style british accent. I think I need to find a room with some windows.

Just while we're on the topic, I absolutely HATE the posts where the amateur rapper kids feel the need to 'talk gangsta' in their posts.

I already hate seeing major grammatical errors in posts, but that stuff is just over the top. :P

Yo Yo Yo, I'm down wit dat, G. The way these punks be talkin'-actin' all street. Makes me think I's wanna pop a cap in they ass!! Way theys from anyways? Buncha white punks from the 'burbs-be actin' like theys from Compton o' uptown. Knows what I mean, G? I's hate that. Know what I mean Bi-atch?

But seriously, I hate that crap too. I'm here in extremely suburban South Florida where all the young white kids drive souped up little hondas pumping out more wattage than my bass rig. You hear the car coming from a mile away, expecting a couple of brothers in a low rider, and it's 2 young white kids in a little rice burner. Go figure!! peace..out..y'all

hey, wasnt sure where to post this, im new to recording, though im a rapper from way back, old school fool! anyway, wats a mixer? if yall bitches dont help me ill bust a cap in ur ass

I don't really mind some of the obvious newbie questions. They can usually be disposed of quickly by relatively junior members who haven't seen the thread a hundred times. It's sort of an obvious division of labor where newbies become experienced and, in turn, provide advice.

I think this is a good point and why these forums are so cool. I consider myself one of those "Junior Members." I know pretty much jack shit, but enough that I can answer some of the real basic noob questions, just cuz I've seen them asked here before and already know the answers. So I'll do so occasionally. no big deal.

However, it would be nice if people would search first, and ask questions second. And only post in one forum, and use something close to English....

Also, while this post is rude and not neccesary, he does make one good point - why IS this in the mixing forum? It's kind of ironic that the whole post is about not following the BBS protocol, and it's in the wrong place (imo).

Which forum would you put it in? The Newbie forum would be wrong because Lemon's not a Newbie and his originating post was not addressed to newbies.

That's beside the point anyway. That krazy argument is classic "two wrongs make a right" misdirection. The fact that lemon posted here doesn't have any effect on the validity of the original premise and doesn't excuse other ignorant behavior.

That post is also a deliciously perfect illustration of the very problem Lemon's talking about. As Jason pointed out in his favorite Christopher Guest accent, apparently didn't even read the very thread he responded to before he posted. If he had he would have known how off-target his post was.

I guess the Visitor Feedback forum - "So, what do you think of this site and BBS? Have you encountered any technical problems or things you'd like improved? Ideas and praise also welcomed..." but nobody every goes there, so it would have been largely ignored, I suppose.

Or maybe the cave. This post is not about mixing or mastering - guess that's all I was thinking. I really don't care, mind you, and you're right - it is besides the point. No big deal.

Cheers, Andy

garage band. add a b after the r.

what im scared of is this little "garage band" outburst bullshit. all those clips fitting together seamlessly. I hear people talking about how their starting up their own "solo projects" by adding vocals over pre-made samples through their laptop mic input then putting it on cd. i hope and (and i dont think i am alone) in saying that this is an insult to real musicians. worst of all, some people actually listen to it and say, "oh jeez, howd you do this? this is really cool!"

ba humbug.

dont hate man, its just using new technologies to create a new form of music, its not as simple as looping a sample...people always want to talk about sampling like its a being lazy thing because they dont understand it other than that they hear something in it that sounds like a sample from a pre-concieved song, so any creativity going into the creation of that song is therefore null and void...thats just ignorant. Like somebody else said in this thread, lets see you do it successfully

Yes, but that's a favorite tactic of some around here. I honestly don't know how they can post it with a straight face :)
