Seein' I have no vocal skillz whatsoever...
......as a matter o' fact I can't even TALK in key, most of my jammies are instrumentals. Ona few occasions, I have had the opportunity to record male and female singers, a coupla' rappers
and a buncha' kids! However, recording vocs is my WEAKEST point as I have not had that many chances to do so!
I'm not so much concerned with specific mics or pre's, just the overall cleanly, captured recording of and BASIC APPLICATION of
'verbs and dynamics processing of singers
During those few times I've had rec'ding vocs, I have had trouble controlling peaks during loud passages and proper comp'ing and levelling of the overall track(s). I try to explain to a certain degree
the need for him/her to use basic mic techniques(such as pulling back from the mic when a certain verse contains a crescendo with force or forward to define and articulate a soft passage), but overall my voc-recding skillz needs a lotta' help!!
I also plan on cutting back on my vices to get my larynx in some kinda shape to try to AT LEAST hold a note in key so I can start writing my own lyrics and use my most-horrid voice as a vocal-click
track until I get an ACTUAL vocalist to perform the track!
Mannn, ALL I WANT TO DO is learn BASIC VOC REC'DING 101 and take it from there. That's wh I feel we need a voc forum 'cause this VOCAL-NEWBIE right here is gonna' ask ya'll a WHOLE,
lotta' questions!
If we get enuff peeps to show interest(similar to collecting signatures for a specific cause), we can present our case to Dragonian Dave and hopefully he'll find a way!
Peace
