How do you measure an "H level signal"

I an trying to wrap my mind around a couple of things in the Tascam manual. One of them is an "H level" and an "L level" signal.

Is this something you can measure with a multimeter? J604 and J605 are calling me.....

As always... thanks,

Brad

Gonna need more specifics, Brad...

What model, what board, what part...what are you measuring?

"H" and "L" would typically stand for high and low, like at the gate of a JFET...the JFET operates in one of two states depending on the voltage at the gate being in a high state or low state.

But I really have no idea what you are looking at or trying to accomplish aside from J604 and J605.

Is this on the 244?

Here's my thoughts..... I think there is a direct correlation to why both channels (1&3) don't work on the 244. I think it may have something to do with the buss/4 track rec switch (since the buss would be both channels 1 and 3)

Anyway, I was looking at testing this on the control Pcb and the manual was telling me to check these pins for h levels or L levels..... I was wondering if it's + or - 5v and the Internet was saying the values could be anything.

It is on the 244.... It's manual section 4-3-2

I don't want to put you out SB..... just trying to figure out where to look for a value..... (although I do appreciate the help :) )

I'm not put out at all so I apologize if I gave that impression, your first post was just nebulous to me.

It's not the actual value that's important so much with the H and the L...what's important is that there is a significant change between the high and low state in terms of voltage. I expect the H state to be something around 5VDC and the low state to be something close to 0VDC.

I've never looked at the 244 schematics. My copy of the manual is missing some of the pages I think...I have no schematic for the REC AMPL PCB. :cursing:
