You need to decide what you're going to be recording, how much you want to spend and how far you want to take this.
Read through the newbies section, questions like yours get asked all the time. Use the search function extensively, narrow down what you really need to know and ask more detailed questions when you have a better understanding of what you're getting yourself into. Not trying to blow you off, but there's no answer to your question than can be done in a single reply.
And, yup, you'll be needing a lava lamp!!! Mine is blue!!!
