Do you have a music editing program? With mine (cakewalk clubtracks) I can mix down a stereo wave file into either a mono wav file or 2 L and R mono wav files.

Just be sure that you rename them tr01 or tr02 etc to ensure that the wave manager recognizes them in order to export them to your MR-8.

If you do not have a music editing program ask some of the guys around here about N-tracks.

files

what clifchamb said is right, i also use n track, but i have to use a card reader and could not get back to the mr 8 without using the wavemanager from fostex, my card reader is probably the difference.

Thanks for the replies. I have N-track and Cubase, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to mix the stereo .wav file to mono. I don't need r and l, since I'll be using the wav file simply as the music for which I will sing my vocals over (we'll use the dry vocal tracks for mixing into the song later).

stereo

you can import the stero file into n track, then mix down, and choose the mono option instead of stereo, 16 bit 441 sample rate, and it will create a mono file from the stereo file, save file as tr01.wav(01 is for the track number)

choose pc to mr8 in wave manager, and convert file right to mr 8

Another way that you can do this is to use the free program "Sound Recorder" that comes with all version of Windows.

(Start - Programs - Accsessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder)

Once open, click File - Open and browse for the file that you want to convert. After you have the file open in Sound Recorder click File - Properties. On the Properties sheet there is a button on the lower right that reads Convert Now. Click that button and you can change your wav file to any format that you like. kHz, bit rate, mono or stereo...
