In this thread:

https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37659

I suggested that someone start a collection of home made solutions to studio furniture & gear etc...

So, in the vein of "don't ask someone to do something your not willing to do yourself..." I have started a database of these projects on my site.

I have been going through some old threads and pulling images out to include but I would like to ask that if you have made a piece of equipment or furniture for your studio post it here (in this thread), email me a link to a picture, or email me the picture and I will include it.

It would be very helpfull if you also had and included a plan/drawing/schematic/parts list and a brief description of what it is or does.

What I would like to include:

Homemade:

Desks/consoles
Racks
Acoustic treatments
Schematics for: speaker switches, power conditioners etc...
Solutions for making the studio easier to work in.

What I am NOT looking for:

Studio Plans & construction photos... See Johns site.
Photos of entire studios
Modified store bought desks... unless the mods are really cool :)

Cheers
Kevin.

I would also like to add that for the people who's stuff I have already included. If you would rather I remove it I will gladly do so.

Cheers
Kevin.

Very cool idea. I'm flatered that you have my humble desk there. If you'd like I'll put together measured drawings for standard 19" racks.

Awsome! Measured drawing would be great.

Thanks
Kevin.

What a great site.

There are some things you see at small beginnings, that you know will grow and grow.

great idea.

Thanks Rochey - Now I just need to figure out how to spell "Homemade" :p

longsoughtfor,

do you want home brew electronics as well?

ian

Longsought,

Absolutely fanfuckintastic idea and nicely presented.

I have added a couple of rack units to my set-up, etc, so I will try and get our resident bass player to bring his digital camera over and take some more pics.

Like T.Rodentus, I feel kinda humble at being included in the albums.

imacgreg - Yeah - Schematics, board layout, how-to and why's would be great!

Ausrock - Why is it that bass players always have digital cameras? I am and have ! ;)

Cheers
Kevin.

Beak - I'm sure the cylindrical absorbers work great. I plan on building some myself when I get to that point. Do a search for them in this group... there have been a couple of discussions on them lately.

If you build some, take pictures and notes and I'll include it on the site.

Cheers
Kevin.

Also feeling very honored to be included. My son (13), who also helped build the desk (and glady signed his name underneath) will be stoked to see our handywork included.

Very Cool Kevin - go for it!! :):)

BTW - be careful of copyright. ;)

cheers
john

yeah this is a really good idea ...
don't blow it by publishing copyrighted material w/o permission...
the guys here that you've already posted have been very accomodating ...
I'd hate to see you get tangled up with someone who wouldn't appreciate it as much (just an example .... don't just pull Jon Gale's designs and publish them w/o asking him first ... he's done some cool shit that I'm sure he wants to retain control of). Not that I think he'd put up a fuss ... just that he'd have the right to.
Good rule of thumb ... ask first before you spend a lot of time on it! ;)
Otherwise ... fantastic idea! I wish I had something cool to contribute.

John, BigK - Thanks for the copyright heads-up I'll keep it in mind.

Kevin.

Just ask permission for anything you want to take, give credit to the author, and provide a link back to their site. That way, you should be OK. It's obvious you are not using that info to make any money, so Ithink you're fine.

BTW< I've been collecting links that I've found here on some of this kind of stuff - would you be interested in them?

Bushice

Bushice - Sure. Post the links, I'm sure everyone would appreciate seeing them.

Kevin.
