I have down loaded reaper it looks rearly good thanks guys for the help, i have my p.c so if i get my u.s.b condensor mike , ear phones and shield ect, is there anything i should get ?

Can you advise me on a decent make or model of powered studio monitor that i can get?

Find a decent large diaphragm condenser mic. Look at Shure, MXL, Audio Technica, etc.

Throw in a pop filter, and the necessary cables and you can be on your way for ~$500.
This is not the pinnacle of uber high quality, but I think you'll be happy with what you get out of it.

You'll need some way to monitor too. Decent powered studio monitors start at $300 and go well over $1000 for a pair. I wouldnt skimp here. If you arent ready to drop that kind of cash, I'd make due with the house stereo until you are ready to commit. I wouldnt spend money on cheap monitors.

My 2c- I'd probably skip the usb mic and use one of these interfaces and get a standard mic to plug into it. The usb mic is an all in one package that plugs directly into your computer- I've never used one, but I'm skeptical of their quality and flexibility.

I guess you are going to proceed...welcome to the money pit from which there is no end...lol.

We have a section on room treatment...too much to list here...but some can be constructed inexpensively if you are handy with the tools.

My advice is to be very crafty in how you get yout gear...you should consider your local craigslist for mics...and stick with AT40 series since they have the very best mics for the value...and if you look hard enough you might find an AT4047 which is thier top vocal mic for arround $300...for an interface the Line6 UX2 is your very best value...and it comes with a free version of Abelton live which is a very good software DAW.

For the monitors...and you dont really want to skimp on them...check your craigslist and look for JBL, Yamaha or Mackie...used they usually go for the same that a cheap cut rate set goes for new.

I run a Karaoke buisness on the side and I have thousands of tracks...I might be able to help.

For your needs I would recommend just getting real cheap monitors or if you have a really nice set of hi fi speakers using them.. If you already have an amp that'll run 4 ohms then buy some passive monitors Behringer do a pair (1 C passive 200 Watts!!) for $40! I don't really think you will need Mackies you'll be surprised at the increase in clarity you'll get from just upgrading a little, not to the best monitoring lol..

Also Alesis they are probably better for a monitor in this price range, the Monitor MKII's are sweet and around $100...These are passive as well which means you would need an amp but most people already own one or you can easily get one second hand cheap somewhere make sure you match the ohms and watts of the speakers..

And seriously check that G-Track by Samson I think it could be the easiest way for you to get monitoring headphones output for your daughter, otherwise buying a separate interface and mic will be more expensive...

While you are shopping try craigslist...some of the gear we recomend here can be found there for half price hardly used...alot of people get into this and when thier kid loses interest they sell them cheap there.
