yes...........I would use 2 mics. One on the skin like a 57 (I used a KMS105 last time) for all the slap & I also had a D112 about 45 degrees to the blast hole. I didn't use any ambient overhead at all as there was a lot going on in the track

I have recorded djembes just using a skin mic but some of the lows I find get captured better from the blast hole

Hey man, thanx alot for that. I'll try that next time. I have both of those mics. Thanx, Slidey.

Fuckin' outstanding, RAMI.

I'll have to pull this up on the studio monitors to tell, but the bongos sound a little mushy in my headphones.

Great job with the vocals, man. This is pretty complex stuff here.

Heh it's tighter than a fish's bits. Real nice funk groove. Vocals sitting well - if these are more forward than usual, you should keep them at this level. You probably get tired of people saying your drums sound good but man, great drums, esp the snare

casey...hey thanx alot, man. You're right about the djembe, which has been discussed in this thread. Slidey gave me some good tips on recording it. I'm sure it will sound better next time I record it....i hope....thanx buddy.

Hey Bull....thanx alot. Yeah, I gave in to the pressure and turned up my vocals, as per everyone's suggestions. I got to get used to it. Thanx for the listen and comment, my frined.

Nice funky sound going on. You funk up really good Rami. :D

I in particular like the snare. A rich cushioned sounding pop. Sounds like the kick and snare are doing their thing and everything else is following along....like pied pipers.

I thought the drums stood out in this mix...until I heard the guitars...and then the bass...and the vox....the cymbals are most excellent sounding too !!

Love it !!! I have no nits with it.

Love ya

Gummblefish raises both arms in the air and proclaims "Oh my God That's the Funky Shit" Good work bro!

At 02:57 (harmony, lead guitar, groove, vocals, percussion): the best bridge I heard on your songs.

Man great song Rami. I don't have anything to add that hasn't been mentioned already. Just an other all-around superb effort. Great everything. I love the vocal treatment. You got talent bro. :)

yeah the haramonyIsations are awesome in the vox. Steely dan-esque.

I do reckon you'll get a much tighter djembe sound with the 2 mic suggestion. I do recall the djembe I use has a very BOOMY bottom end so I had to keep one hand on the skin to keep the boom under control

also the 1st hit in the part I recorded is like the kick so I had to practice letting the note decay & then putting my hand back on the skin to continue the part

Thanx True.....I like my snare sound on this, too. I tuned it up higher than usual for more funk, but I think I'll leave it like this for everything....:D :D :D

Thanx for the compliment on the vocals. I'll definitely use 2 mics Next time I record the djembe. I think laziness made me hope I could just sit at the computer and throw a mic over it. :D
