Hey moskus...

Hey , I got my copy of Sonar 3 today and loaded it on my work laptop . A k6 300meg with 64 meg ram running XP and IT WORKED. But I did not stress it with any effects ,I just loaded some project files which I had in Sonar 2. No dropouts or anything. Looks like a winner so far.

The only problem was I thought I was going to break the CD's trying to get them out of the container they are packaged in :D
I guess someone screwed up designing the packaging.

I haven't seen your submission for the Lead Guitar in BPOM yet?
Okay okay, I'll give it a shot tonight... :)

But what the hell is going on with the server now? Daaaamn it's slow... Hmmm, I just have to send an e-mail to Eivinn... ;)

Bill,

Looks like I've got another hectic weekend ahead of me, shovelling six cubic metres of top soil in my front yard and also doing some maintenance work at my son's house too. :( Ah such are the joys of parenthood...

I haven't forgotten our little project. I have rediscovered one of my funky little numbers that I think will fit the bill, so to speak. :)

I need to tidy it up a bit then I'll bash off a CWP file to you so you can lend an ear and work out the incredibly complex chord sequence that's involved. I'll use markers to assist you (and to remind me).

The tune I've picked is entitled 2# For The Blues (it was originally entitled Bm Blues).

Bm = relative minor of D
Key of D = 2#s

I'll PM you when I've finished tittivating it so I can e-mail the file to you. It comprises LH & RH (as in speakers) guitar parts.

I can sense you salivating already. Oh sorry - that's SONAR 3 causing that. Oh well...

Hey moskus lonely heart club band

Ugh... :(
Sorry, I couldn't have done anything related to recording these days but gig and practise. My home studio is pretty mess by now...

What's going on, Jaymz?

I build my new DAW (yet realy powerfull  )...

P4 2.4GHz
Asus FSB 800
1 GB DDR PC3200 (400MHz)
Dual 7200RPM HD (40GB & 80GB)
Delta 1010LT <-- Finaly it arived this friday !!! :D
SB Live! DE51 <-- aaah, shut up moskus, it's soundfont wise :D :D :D
There I will install my WinXP Home along with (next to be) SONAR 3.
No monitor yet... maybe these days...
and so on...

Some of the components were taken from my old DAW (PIII866) which now becomes my working/surfing/gaming etc computer (running Win98SE). Since I took some parts of it, and consider it's function in future, I don't install any music related software on it except Winamp... :p

But then I realize that I also need to re-construct my basement room to gain better acoustic & noise reduction (electric radiation) etc. Thank God my old brother is interior designer, so he helped me design the layout and new look. The design ain't bad at all... We do re-wiring electric lines in it, replace many cables with high quality ones and do tricks to ensure minimize radiation. We are also thinking of better bass trap & acoustic treatment on wall. We went town to look for best material we can afford. Looks like the whole process will take about months to finish... Now, my -appartement like- room is pretty mess, me and wifey needs to move in my sister's room for a while :o (she's not there anymore)...

Gee... what a price to pay, to welcome SONAR 3... (thougt I have no idea when it will come to my so called home studio :D )

Now, get off me... I'm broke and hungry...

...and I like pie ;)

:D

New machine specs

Jaymz

Hey Jaymz...that's awfully close to the specs of the machine I built a little whil ago. Biggest difference is I have the 533 FSB (although...my mother board will over clock reliably to the 800 FSB - and take those processors). Oh yeah, and I didn't install ht SBLive in my new one and I still havent' gotten thet LiveSynth Pro to work :(. But the machine rocks...love mine :D.

Good luck with it & congrats!!

Thanks for the words, John :)

Pheeww..., I haven't installed nor tried everything yet. I'm too busy at work these days. Still using the old PIII for home work and surf at home. The good thing is everytime I get tired of working, I stare at the new unfinished DAW, with the curious look of expectation...

"You betcha rock me hard, fella..., or I'll be damned..." :D

The only minor issue (which *can* be major in near future) is those cooling fans. It looks so big and hurts...

"Are you that noisy fella ?"

...oooh, I'm scared now... :( :D

Veeery nice, James! :) :)

But you know I can't let the SB-Live issue just pass me by. :D

Okay, I'll say it one more time: Use LiveSynth Pro for Soundfonts! You got a low latency card... why not just use it? ;)

Hmmmm... "tonight" must not have an equivalent word in Norwegian. I'm guessing it must translate as "when I get around to it." Sort of like mañana in Spanish.

Well... yeah, you're actually right! :p

But I will do it this weekend. I actually need to learn a major scale, and that's taking a while. Bear with me...

[Narrator] Drumroll please....

*drrrrrrrrrr*

[Narrator] Ladies and gentlemen...

[Narrator] Behold Moskus' 4 bar solo on the FTP-server!

:D :D :D

Told you guys I would do it. ;)

Is there anything else besides that (crappy) solo of mine you want me to play?

Great, moskus!!

Since the prospects of horns is looking a little dim, I am taking the liberty of programming an organ solo in lieu of the sax. I would program a sax, but I'm pretty bad at programming horns. :(

I'll see if I can get it posted in the next couple of days. However, if anyone wants to take a crack at doing a horn (or anything else), then please be my guest. I won't be offended.

In fact, I'm thinking that when it comes time to mix everything, people can just pick and choose the parts they want to include. :)

Dachay, I dont have time right now but if someone posts some midi runs for a sax I can try to put a sax sound out of the triton on it.
I posted the horn sound earlier but it was just for seeing if anyone liked the sounds timbre, as it was not timed to anything :(

Moskus, I bet your friends find you to be a great source of wit ;) as we do here

peace
Bill

Awe, come on Moskus. play the minor pentatonic shift it 3 frets add a flattenned root and a sharped 3rd. How long could it take to learn that?

No more stalling allowed :D ;) :D

Its the creativity and timing thats tough.

Major scales aren't that bad any more (but they're not the best). Wow! I've actually learned something with this project! Thanks for making me do this, guys! :) :)

For The Exclusivity of Mr William Faraoni

Yo Bill dude!

Could you PM me with a contact e-mail address so that I can open direct lines of communication?

I should have 2# For The Blues at a stage soon whereby you can have a listen (and wonder what you've let yourself in for :) )

OK Bill,

I didn't realise that Tinnitus Blues was autobiographical. I'm really sorry. How severe is your hearing loss?

I have a mild form of tinnitus in my left ear as a legacy of spending five years sitting next to a guy using an air brush re-touching photographs of farm machinery. Five years of psst psst psst.

My tinnitus presents itself as faint morse code. But unfortunately I've no idea what it's saying, and I can only hear it if everything is really quiet.

So far as 2# For The Blues is concerned, time is of no consequence. I'm pleased and relieved you didn't send it back unopened. ;) I look forward to hearing the final version.
