Okay. Espect user/passwords on wedensday. :)

Porter, can you make a list of all the HMC-members. Then I can PM username/passwords to everybody (prefer not to leave it "in the open"). :)

Also... should I update e-mails on the Profiles page.. put your hands up it it is ok.. and if I haven't got your e-mail, shoot me an e-mail. Plus, if you want me to create 'profile pages' with out pictures etc.

I'm not very fan of putting my e-mail adress up on webpages. I have enough problems with spam allready... ;)

You can just link to the "Send e-mail" on HR.com :)

Good call... I'll do that tomorrow night. It's midnight here... I'm off to bed. ;)

dachay2tnr, there was a problem with the second file that you uploaded onto Yahoo... both of the split files need to be the same name with the .001 and .002 after it. I downloaded, tried joining them and it didn't work the first time... I'm in the process of uploading a corrected file. Should be there by the time I've finished typing this (almost). Basically... if you download the two files now you should be right.

Porter
Ah! As I said, I didn't actually try and rejoin them. However, I imagine a simple renaming of the files would work. (I guess that's what you did with new upload :) ).

BTW, I *think* Paul is in the same boat as you, in that he is primarily a guitar player who plays some bass. Not fully sure of that, so I'll let him answer.

added edit: I forgot to mention, nice job on the web site, Porter.

I am having a look at the Bass part... slowly... ie mostly listening to it at this stage. I plan on over the next few nights writing a tab for it... I think in some instances it is an octave lower than what was in the MIDI file...
Porter, that may have something to do with the patch you are using to play it back. I have found sometimes when auditioning bass sounds, that using a different patch will cause an octave shift.

Don't know if that's the situation here, but fyi I used Sonic Implants Fretless Bass sound font with the Fender Fretless BassX patch. I'm guessing that this came with Sonar, elsewise I don't know where I might have gotten it from.

dachay2tnr,

I was playing it using the 'Porter' patch. I generated a 'tab' from the MIDI file to play along with... it sounds an octave lower on the original recording... so I'll play around with it and go from there.

BTW, thanks for the comment on the web site. I'm trying to keep it up to date. I haven't had a chance in the last week due to family matters and this dam flu/chest infection that is going around my office/Sydney..

BluesMeister - I'll need to get the Click Plus Rhythym mp3. What's the best way to do this? Can you e-mail it to me - or is there a size limit on your e-mails?
There is a 3MB limitation imposed by my ISP for e-mail attachments. I could split the MP3 and send it to you in easy-to-assemble halves. PM me to let me know which address to send it to.
Is anyone planning to do a lead guitar solo (right before the sax solo) and the muted stuff in the intro?
My rhythm part includes the muted guitar in the intro (panned hard L and hard R). I've used the same muted riff throughout the song. :) I play arpeggioed chords during the chorus and bridge passage. However I'll re-do the arpeggios for the final WAV-file mix.

Maybe Moskus could handle the blistering lead guitar solo?

BTW, not wishing to be a pedantic picker of nits :) one of the chords is slightly amiss. There's an Ebm for one beat just before the second Bb measure in the verse. Having listened intently to the tune for hours on end, I can attest to the accuracy of this statement :D
And did we resolve who is doing the bass? And, if so, does anyone need a mix of the song without the existing bass part?
Porter or Paul? How are your bass desires???

I was thinking about Moskus for the Guitar solo...

Blues,

Does your ISP give you any web space?

Er, now that you mention it... I think maybe it does. I'll have to check that out. I'll need to check my Welcome to... joining-up e-mail from my ISP when I get home tonight.

I've no idea how to upload files to my web-space though (if indeed I do have any web-space) - but that's a minor issue.

All these questions and more will be answered this evening... Don't touch that dial :)

Thank you for that honour!! :) :) :)

But I was thinking that maybe the competition for the guitar solo is fierce, so maybe we should audition guitar-solos. You know, "let the best man win"... ? That's not necessarily me. ;)

Woho! 850 Replies and 8500 views! That has to be a CakewalkForum Record! :D

With even less real content than the ADD thread. :)

BTW, count me out of the competition for the guitar solo. :p

As I said, that could be a result of the patch. I programmed it in piano roll view and primarily went by ear. As I said earlier, some of these patches seem to play the same identical notation in different octaves. I never fully understood that, but since transposing is so easy in midi, I never spent alot of time figuring it out. If the part sounded an octave off when I switched patches, I just transposed it up or down as needed.

Well I know the 'patch' I uses isn't 100% up to scratch ;)

I know with a Guitar (and I'd imagine it's the same with a bass), middle C is an Octave lower... I'll try to try that tonight.. I'm really tired all the time at the moment... even after sleeping for like 12 hours a night on the weekend and after 8-9 hours sleep a night.

Go straight to the doctor, do not pass Go. That kind of fatigue could be associated with a number of disorders, Porter.

Well I'm booked in to seeing my doctor on Monday evening after work... can't see him any other time. I'll go from there.

I've heard good things about the Porter Patch. Is there anywhere I can get a demo version? :D

Hope you're feeling better. I sometimes sleep 12 hours a day as well, but 4 or 5 of them are usually while I'm at work. :D

Well, there is only one copy of it I know in the world.. and to install it, you need to uninstall it from it's previous location... plus the cost is an airfare + accomodation :D

Thanks mate, I've told them at work if they see me asleep to leave me for 15 minutes then wake me up :D (not). But I did warn them that I'm progressively getting more tired.. and they were cool about that ??

Anyway, dachay2tnr, how did you go with Blues' files? I no longer have access to the yahoo briefcase at work... all yahoo and hotmail have been banned!!! So I can't check it from work.
