LOL

I was actually thinking of you this mornging Chuck. For some reason "Turn Your Love Around" by George Benson popped into my head. I could hear those beautiful horn parts in my head this morning. :D. I'm not necessarily suggesting this song, or not necessarily not suggesting it. It just popped into my head this morning :D.

(from a reformed trumpet player) :D

That is a coincidence. I heard that song a couple of weeks ago while walking through a mall, and I've been humming it ever since. I actually had a thought about my group doing it.

Anyway, it would get my vote - and I know where we can get the BGV's. :)

I don't recall all the instumentation in it. Is there enough to go around (we already know there's enough for Chuck).

George benson :) Thats one of the few songs of his Without a significant guitar track :( lots of cool keyboard horns and bass stuff though. challenging VOX too

Heres some spam :o

BTW Ive got only one brand new Roland mmp-2 mic modeler/preamp left to sell at a killer price ($150) to brother homerecorders. Pm me if thats something anyone would be interested in.
Ive had one for a while and I think its the best thing since sliced bread:) for recording with. I paid over $350 for a b-stock one some time back. Gonna keep one as a backup because I cant imagine recording without it anymore :)

fizzle. fizzle. fizzle. fizzle. fizzle. fizzle. fizzle. fizzle. < sound of collaboration idea fizzling out. > :(

Nah...we just need to figure out what we are recording. I downloaded Bill's & Porter's songs to listen to today at work. I may have heard Bill's already, but I need a refresher:D.

I'm not against a cover, although it would be nice to do someone's original so we could have it as an entry for the HR.comp :D 3 CD. That being said, I haven't offered any of my (very few) originals as I'm not sure they are suitable for a larger collab like this because I have always pictured them as rather simple, instrumentally. Plus I am stuck in a ballad rut. I can't seem to write any up tempo stuff. Anyway, you can all check out what I have there. Be careful to read the notes. Not all of the songs are mine http://www.nowhereradio.com/johnscott/singles

But look here for "Where The River Flows". This is the final version. I would have to get permission from my co-writer for this one. I'm actually just starting to track this one myself. This is the scratch tracks.

Anyway, I, for one, am excited about this. We just need to come up with a song. :D

I'm still here waiting, Ive done far too much lip flapping already.:)
But John, I dont see how we could improve on "the gift"!!!
Where The river flows might be a fun song if Al doesnt mind us changing it further.
Does anyone have a steel guitar?

Peace
Bill

LOL...well, I plan to try at any rate. I will be retracking this somewhere along the line. I've learned so much over the last few months and my recording equipment is significantly better. Most of the parts are programmed in midi, so it won't take that long, unless I try to improve on some of the performamces (I'm specifically thinking piano). :D

Jagular,

I'm going to download the songs at work and give them a listen...

Should we set up a web page with the details of everyone here and the instruments they play etc?

Porter

Ugh, sorry guys, not being around for couple days :o it's been a bussy week. Anyway, I'll have plenty of time this weekend.

Porter, looks like the website has not worked yet, at least until now I access it :)

So far I've downloaded :

Porter : Forever, Together, just you and me
wfaraoni : Moonbeams
Jagular : Where river flows

Listening to three of them while typing :)
I knew they were raw tracks, so I'm thinking what track should be done first before another can join.

Porter : I'm thinking of slide lap steel and few honky tonk piano...

wfaraoni : I'm thinking of better durms and bass track...

Jagular : hmmm, haven't had any idea for now, but I'll get it very soon :)

BTW, I need info about the tempo used on each.

Thanks, keep comin' :)

I've talked to my friend, the "webmaster". He should see what he could do, and get back to me during the weekend. Next month we will know if we have "endless" storagespace. :)

Cool... It better be fast connection server, and don't forget to reserve a space for the FAQ :)

Firstly, the 'basic' web site should be up now... I'm going to do more work on it tonight... it has a new address... I"ve edited the other address ;-)

Secondly, the song I was suggesting was actually So I'll Dream.

And lastly, I wasn't thinking about doing too much more to the song... just try some harmonies and go from there.

"Fast connection"?... Uhmm... sure! :D

Well, it depends on how fast fast is. But think of the other benefits. Unlimited storagespace! :)

Doh!!! :o
I was downloading that in the office :D I'll go get it again :)
moskus, I think any server will do :) Cool ;)

Anyone here play trombone?

If we wanted to go the cover route, we have a trumpet. If we could find a bone somewhere, we could do a Chicago tune. Another random thought from the morning shower. :D

BUMP

I've created a web page (ok... updated it) and it's location. It is now http://cakewalkers.hopto.org (sorry about the 1 pop up)

I'm going to have the project page up later tonight (7pm here atm)

So check it out!!
